Vectone mobile any good?

Hi,
I've been trying to help a family member who has entered a SIM only contract with Vectone this week. The sim does not work in her phone and so she wants to get out.
When we contact Vectone customer service they do not seem to understand the request. They ask for a mobile number which we do not have because you need to get the Sim card to work in the phone first.
I've been told three times someone will call me back in 5 minutes. No one does. I ring back and speak to the same advisor who acts clueless about what I say.
The direct debit does not yet appear on my online banking either. I'm clueless how to stop it.0 -
Have you tried the sim in another phone?
And IIRC all the sim cards I ever received had the number printed on the plastic card or the packaging.
Simply by stopping the DD if/when it appears you risk to have your family member's history trashed.0 -

It's a nano sim so it is a bit of an issue trying to find another phone with it in. Might have to try and get one of those adaptors just to find out the number.
The plastic only shows the 'PUK', 'PIN' and Sim Number not the mobile number.
We have now rang 5 times and been told we'd get a call back 5 minutes later. Nothing. They ignore requests to speak to 'management'
Would a letter sent by recorded delivery suffice as cancellation notice if I get nowhere on the phone?0 -
It might - but not if you returned it without the SIM. As it was posted to you, you gave DSR rights, but these do expire after a week or so. As the SIM hasn't been activated or registered, this helps.0

Might be quicker to get the phone unlocked ??0

Get a free Nano sim adapter from an O2 shop.0

Hi everyone
I have been with Vectone for years, but always had trouble roaming. I can make/receive calls, but cannot use the Internet on my phone (Samsung S3, running Android 4.1.2). This is despite the fact that I followed all their instructions, including:- my PAYG credit was >5GBP
- 'mobile data' and 'data roaming' options were enabled
- I had selected Overseas from the Vectone menu
- I tried selecting every network available, including automatic selection
- I reinserted the sim and restarted the phone
Was anyone able to get data to work while roaming? Thanks for any advice.0 -
When is £10 only £9.993 ? - When you top up with Vectone Mobile and try to take advantage of their £10 national Package (unlimited calls, texts, data)
I bought a £10 top up and successfully loaded it on my phone. I then dialed *1001# to convert it to the National Package (cost £10) only to be told by text that I had insufficient funds and to top up again. I then checked my balance which showed £9.993 WHAT!!!!
I phoned the call centre to find out what was happening to speak to a disinterested Asian Lady who told me to turn off my phone and call back in half an hour (obviously after she had p*ssed off so she didn't have to bother explaining where my 0.7 of a penny had disappeared to). I did try phoning back, a number of times, to be totally ignored. When I finally spoke to someone (an equally disinterested Asian Male), I was told my balance was now £9.73 so I couldn't buy the package anyway. I told him what vectone could do with their fraudulent Sim Card. I have learned the hard way, if an offer looks too good to be true, IT IS, so don't waste your hard earned money.
Vectone, I hope you go the way of many other mobile suppliers, BANKRUPTSY!0 -
The small deductions were probably background data usage.0

I tend to feel some sympathy for the staff in Asian and African call centres, who work for minimal wages and have to contend with strange British accents and vernacular English, callers becoming irate at the slightest shortcoming. Their use of clear simple English is often better than ours even if their accent is hard to catch sometimes. I find that some friendly words and asking how the weather is at their end - "You're so lucky, it's cold and rainy here in England!" - often makes them perk up and become more chirpy and helpful. The deficiencies of the likes of Vectone are often inexcusable but so is a lack of verbal civility to their usually innocent CS personnel.Evolution, not revolution0
