Vectone mobile any good?
I am a recent Vectone customer and have been abroad yesterday for the first time, to France.
My vectone sim card is not working, I don't have access to any french network.
I called CS many times and they are just clueless, I asked them to activate roaming and they said it is already activated for all custumers. They told me to manually select a network which I did many times but no access is allowed.
Has anyone had the same experience? what to do to get it to work?

Latest advice I got from CS is to turn on roaming on my mobile.
I wonder if they know what they are talking about.0 -
I had the same issue on a trip to Italy and found this thread via Google so thought I'd post a possible fix.
After a lot of hunting, the solution (at least for my Nokia) is not under the phone's settings menu, but in a custom menu 'Vectone Services' (which I think got added to the end of my main menu when I activated my Vectone sim).
This has one item in the menu to 'Select roaming mode'. Mine had defaulted to 'manual', 'in the uk'. Changing this to automatic or overseas made everything work (until I got home and had to select manual/uk to connect again!).0 -
I know there's been a few posts about Vectone mobile in the past but I wanted to update and remind people that nothing has changed and they are still as appalling as ever.
Specifically, they are promoting free uk landline calls where you just pay 10p for the first minute. I even have an email from customer services confirming calls are free as long as I redial before 60 mins. But I am getting charged 10p per minute. My last uk landline call was over £2
I have tried numerous times to call vectone customer services. After dialling 322 I get a perfectly clear announcement but when selecting the option to speak to a rep the call is transferred to India and becomes appalling quality. So much so that despite getting through to customer services it is impossible to have a conversation.
Do not be seduced by vectones offers, they will overcharge you and you will not be able to resolve any issues with them.
Vectone Mobile deserve to go out of business - do not give them your money.
I am cutting up my vectone sim card - vectone mobile are a bunch of crooks.0 -
Only UK 01/02/03 numbers are 10p, everywhere else is billed per minute. If you are being billed incorrectly, take it up with them!0

I'm suspicious of phone companies - there are several - offering low per minute rates to certain countries, only to find that they are limited special offers and may or may not expire by a certain date. I've avoided these in the past.
I looked at the Vectone deal offering 'free' UK calls to the value of £5. It turns out that the 'free' calls are to UK mobiles rather than landlines. Curious but there we are.
What makes Vectone potentially worthwhile for me is their roaming facility. Using the prefix *103* when travelling outside the UK offers some interesting rates, for example 18p per minute to call the UK from South Africa and just 1p per minute to receive.
I'll be road testing this soon.0 -
Sorry for the thread drag up, but vectone *seem* to have great roaming rates - e.g. 10p per min to receive in Australia & with a fiddly method using a USSD code (*103*44XXXXXXXXXX# where the X part is the UK number without the first 0) 18p/min back to the UK.
Anyhow, back to the thread - I had been panicking trying to find out how to enable Vectone roaming on my dad's android phone (SF2) - it is on his phone as my services (lovely pink square with an info style i on it) - hope this helps someone who finds this thread in a panic like I did.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0 -

Hi,
Did this work at the rates given?0 -
I haven't tried it yet as I haven't been in South Africa for a while.
For other countries, there are other possibilities. I'm currently trying Togglemobile's service offering 3p/minute for calls to landlines and some mobiles between 10 countries including the US, a bit fiddly but first impressions are good. It's a pity they offer NO service at all in South Africa.
I'll be going back to South Africa soon and will probably try Vectone's *103* then.0 -
Does anyone knows if calls to Vectone numbers included in to free calls allowance on Virgin Mobile contracts?
Thank a lot.0 -
They use EE as does Virgin Mobile.0
