Virgin Media Broadband charging 25p/min for its helpline

Hi mate,
I tried about 6 different one's from the list. The colchester proxys do not work at all, errror screen straight away.
With a few of the belfast proxies, i get a
"connecting to XX.XXX.XX.XX (IP ADDRESS)" message come up at the bottom of IE and the windows xpgreen 'loading bar' comes up. It tries to connect to my homepage (+ i tried other webpages) for about 20 seconds it tries and then gives up to reveal:
"IE cannot open the page.."
Is that a good sign that atleast it is trying to connect when using the belfast proxys?:beer:0 -

I have been with Virgin Media since April this year, and their call charges were 25p per minute at that time. See my post on 17/4/07.It has been quoted on the "Phonebrain" Website that 0870 calls cost up to 10p per minute. Not true !! - Virgin Media charge 25p per minute to call their 0870 Customer Services number, so BEWARE !! - Maybe there are other companies out there who are doing the same !! - Pilot1
VMs customer services and general faults numbers are 150 and 151 , both are free to call from a VM landline . From a BT line they are 0845 numbers and cost about 5p per min . They dont use 0870 numbers as far as I can see

To posters above.
When I rang 150/151 to ask if 35Kbytes/s was my max u/l speed and if i should be getting faster, they told me to ring the 0906 number:beer:0 -
couldnt we ring it and send VM an invoice for the cost of call and labour @ £20 per hour??? I am seriously considering it
Not happy I have to pay 25ppm to speak to Asif in India... why pay more for worse service???
Wrong Move Branson...

Just a reminder, I got my bill the other day, CHECK IT!!! I have been charged for calls when I was told I would get refunds! I looked and no credits on bill.
Called up billing and ok now, but worth checking. We’ve had to remove your signature because your opinion differs from ours. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why you can not have your own opinion on here and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Follow up on what happened with Virgin and myself. Their service was very poor after 5pm in the evening (in Oxford at least) so I told them they're in breach of the T&Cs, copied in the parts about a reasonable service and told them 'time to time' with regards to line speeds does not mean everyday like clockwork.
They waived the disconnection fee.
I'm now using bethere.co.uk as a provider and so far they're excellent. Upto 25Mb downstream of which I've been achieving 18Mb tops across lots of downloads. 1.3Mbit up is working at full tilt0 -
Had a letter today from Virgin Media saying they are scrapping the rip-off 25p/min charge from 1st June. :T
Here's what the letter says:
"What you think is really important to us and when you tell us that you don't like something we listen!
So we're getting rid of the 25 pence per minute charge for Broadband technical support and replacing it with a local rate number that's free when calling from your Virgin Media phone.
From 1st June, if you're having problms with your service, you can dial 151 from your Virgin Media phone to get help - for free! Or call 0845 454 1111 from any other phone"
Funny thing is, today was the first time in more than a year I had a problem with my connection, thought of calling tech support, then thought crikey Im going to have to pay 25p/min !!
