KP you really need to read Marie Kondos Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up. I bit the bullet and got it on kindle but I wish I'd got it from the library. She talks a lot about kondoing others belongings. Hard to condense, but basically don't do it I think. :)

Sadly no shed treasure. Just a lot of komono :rotfl: that I wished I'd dumped years ago. :rotfl:

Peaty - Jelly, up until last term was worrying her teachers with her lack of interaction with the other kids. more than happy to jabber at the adults and spend all day with them, but due to not having siblings and not really having any kids around here we can meet up with, she finds adults are her only source of entertainment, and lets face it, a better conversation ;) so for her to have such excitement at another little person is great and she's really come out of herself, as has her painfully shy little bestie. It is a rather big deal in our world as mums of 2 quiet-uns ;) although I am sure they will gather more friends. I think it is just special they have found someone they are opening up to! :D

Seconded on reading the book. It is rather life changing. I cannot help myself. Mid chapter I just jump up and start cleaning something :rotfl:

There is a problem in deciding what is someone elses treasure versus stuff to be kondoed though. As is proven time and time again at car boots, everyone loves different things for different reasons. One mans junk...

I've been reading the kondo thing again. I hope I can find the magic you do. It seems to be helping lots of folk on here.

It's worth persevering Peaty. I feel positive about tidying now and that I'm achieving something, rather than feeling I am fighting a lost battle. I've always said that if everything has a place then cleaning will be easy, but sadly putting everything in a place is hopeless if it's stuff you don't use need or like. I can't say I got it first time, it's coming gradually :)

Thanks Shelbi, very grateful for any tips. :D. I did watch one YouTube presentation but found it a bit frustrating as Marie Kondo was speaking some of the time and then someone was translating some of the time too. It inspired me to get the book though. I may try YouTube again to find the audio book when I'm kondoing :)

Talking of which .... I just got up a bit early and rearranged the junk room. sounds a bit unkondo, but I wanted to put my new sewing table in place. It is, but now covered by junk and so is the space where my sofa will be. Sooooo, I can now see what the room will look like when it's done (it's going to be wonderful :T) and the only barriers are my junk  which is all in place ready to be kondoed. :T

I've been looking at little sofas to fit the small space behind the door, but that is going to be the cherry on the cake purchase :)

Been popping into my craft/sewing/relaxing room and admiring the layout. Wouldn't believe what a difference a little organising can make. It seems huge now and I only did a little kondoing. Lots on eBay so hopefully even more space soon so that I can kondo the piles of papers - at least 15 years worth - although when we last moved I took at least 2 sacks of papers for secure destruction as I didn't have time to shred it  note to self - research kondoing papers.

I know, probably why it's not been done before. But, a consolation is that the room has that kondoed feel about it now - something to do with the window sill being clear so have an uninterrupted view of the beautiful garden now. :). I will take a cup of coffee with me at the weekend and get it sorted. Another plus is that some of the junk is selling on fleabay, so more space will be free :T

I love this sideboard. Just wondering if my dark wood unit would look good painted inside.

This was my first inspiration, http://www.houzz.com/photos/25130732/Coastal-Living-Cottage-Newport-Storage-Cabinet-beach-style-buffets-and-sideboards but then I saw they do it in brown, so why paint mine when it already looks this good - should I add mirror tiles? And lights? Or perhaps just paint the inside as my first option?

    Edit:
Teehee, just changed signature. No more actually paid off, but just reflecting the loan. My target of £4k now seems much more achievable - going to get that paid off as soon as. Then it's just the loans which are on 4.2% and which have definite short end dates (unlike credit cards). Can't wait to say bye bye to those :). New targets all very much on track :)
