This has to be a scam right?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-x-Playstation-3-console-60gb-PAL-All-New_W0QQitemZ280132317962QQihZ018QQcategoryZ117562QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The seller wont even accept cash on collection.

    How about this voucher seller,

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Marks-Spencer-gift-vouchers-for-300-pounds_W0QQitemZ200127130068QQihZ010QQcategoryZ65215QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

All his feedback bar one is for 1p ebooks, and all of a sudden he's selling 3 lots of £300 worth of vouchers.

Looks like scams, ive got a gut feeling that scammer brova30 has got a hand in this, both sellers registered london, been dealing in vouchers before, definate scams !!!beware!!!!!

I agree http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Marks-Spencer-...QQcmdZViewItem looks very fishy. Suddenly after being on ebay for 1 month he is selling £900 worth of Next/M&S/Debenhams vouchers and not even a photo. Not sure if there is a connection with Brova30 but he might have got the idea from him. Interesting timing too, up this evening and a postal strike on Friday! You cant even warn bidders these days as only the winning bidder shows up on high value (over £100) items.

I agree that this one also looks well dodgy...but buyers must take some responsibility for themselves as well. A new seller(1 selling feedback) with previous feedback from 1p purchases, no photo no enhanced paypal protection and with insecure postal method offered...why is anyone actually bidding here.

Also, (i'm probably the last to spot this!!) on the bidding page if you hover your cursor over the 'view' option you get bidding stats which include the percentage and times this bidder bids on this sellers items. Looks like he has shill bids going on as well. With any luck the non shill bidders are actually scam busters so he might well end up winning his own auction.

Ebay are refusing to remove the neg feedback left to all the scammed buyers of brova30 auctions,brova30 was banned on tuesday although ebay let him carry on using his account 6 days after being reported to them for fraudlent auctions,in this time he has left negs on everyones accounts who he ripped off(talk about rubbing salt into the wound)ebay are saying this feedback does not qualify under the rules to be deleted WHY??,honest buyers/sellers using ebay are scammed and lose there cash, fraudlent sellers leave negs, ebay ban sellers but still make their honest customers hold onto the neg feedbacks left by these ebay crooks,WHERES THE FAIRNESS HERE??,Any advice on this matter will be greatly apreciated.

It is best to be realistic about paypal, the basic £150 protection usually relies on ebay managing to recover funds from the seller. That will depend on how quickly the seller withdrew the funds and how quickly they are likely to reach the 'safe' bank account.

That's why regular users on here, myself included, usually suggest backing all paypal payments by credit card as you can always fall back on the CC company if paypal can't recover funds.

Soo as I posted on this thread:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=500339

As far as I can tell from paypal's new t&c's all purchases under £150 are covered regardless off wether seller has sufficent funds in their account.

    Or am I missing something???

i ve filed a claim with paypal but looking at the number of cases against this person there might be some delays before we get a resolution..
however i ll also file a dispute with my credit card company and based on my past experience the credit card comapnies always decides the case in the buyers favour..

I don't believe the basic paypal protection does cover purchases regardless of whether the seller has funds or not.

The £150 paypal protection replaces the old ebay claims which were always difficult to navigate and did not pay out in full. The original paypal protection of £500 still shows as a stand alone claim.

Until the paypal help pages turn up specific information about the extent of the £150 protection, and that info appears to be missing currently, I would not trust it to recover funds where seller has cleared out their account. Regardless of any protection I am ultra cautious and would always use my paypal backed by a credit card, just in case.

Sorry..just to add, that on the 7th June this statement was added to paypal 'help' (it was under somethiing quite illogical)

General. PayPal’s Buyer Complaint Policy covers goods that are purchased and not delivered, and goods purchased on eBay and paid by using PayPal that are “significantly not as described”. For payments relating to eBay transactions, this Policy may apply if the buyer complaint is ineligible for coverage under PayPal Buyer Protection. Buyer disputes must be filed within 45 days of the payment and, even if the buyer’s claim is justified, the buyer will receive a recovery only if there are funds in the seller’s account. RECOVERY OF YOUR CLAIM IS NOT GUARANTEED.

Note: Obtaining a remedy under the terms of this policy is only available to registered PayPal users

    ~

So that clears that up..funds must be avialble for a result to be guaranteed.

Thats bloody shocking how people keep conning other buyers... I think something needs to be done... I'll try to write a quick guide on how to check out if the guy is a scammer or not later... I've been with ebay for about 5 years now and not been scammed once - thats coz i'm very careful!
