People who like to the Chinese wall of an oyster card which means been overcharged doesn't mean an unauthorised OD like a CPC can0 -

Why is the NISA only coming into effect in July? Why not 6th April?
Why is it so close to the date of the UK 2014 elections?
Coincidence?0 -
To give providers 3 months to prepare.0

Huh?
When are you overcharged when using London buses or trains? As long as you tap in/out when required, you'll pay what you're meant to. Likewise if you can't budget and keep track of your spending which results in you going into an unauthorised overdraft because you used a bus, I'd say you've got a bigger problem than an Oyster card/Contactless card on your hand and need to learn a little financial management.
Contactless cards and cashless buses are the way of the future. Quicker. Easier. etc etc0 -

The budget was on March 19, a mere 16 working days before the start of the new tax year. If it had been merely a different than generally expected increase in the allowance, ISA providers might just about have been able to handle the change - although some would have screamed blue murder since a lot of ISA literature and posters would already have been at the printers with £11,880 / £5,940 and corresponding wording (and similar for JISAs). It would have been almost impossible to update the literature to be printed in a mere 16 working days.
But there are bigger changes - the removal of the 50% max on the cash part, the ability of S&S to cash transfers, as well as some changes to what investments are allowed in S&S ISAs and the treatment of cash funds in S&S ISAs. These require significant changes / entirely new processes to be implemented that nobody would benefit from if they were implemented in a haste.0 -

However its a standard non contactless card, so I called and asked for a contactless card. Only to be told no sorry we don't offer them in your area.
Never mind not the end of the world.
Alex
I sent my branch a letter saying that I was a bit unhappy that they didn't sent me a contact less card and that they weren't offering them in my area. Just had a call today to say that a new "contact less card" had been ordered for me and would be here next week. She also apologised for taking so long to get back to me.
I am pleased that someone bothered to call in response to my letter.

Lol you clearly haven't been keeping up with London news much!

I manage my fianances very well thank you, however I know that many others don't! A quick glance at some of the threads on here will tell you that! Also as above many Londoners have been overcharged by TfL
Sometimes the oyster system messes up and overcharges people - it's happened to me enough times despite me conscientiously touching in and out and using the pink validators where necessary.0 -

Did you read that article at all? Those people are not being overcharged, they're paying a penalty for not tapping in and out when they are meant to. It's completely their own fault. The only time it's not their fault is when the Oyster scanner is not working, or the gates are left open for football matches, but there's systems in place to ensure customers aren't overcharged in those situations as mentioned in that article. If you're stupid enough not to tap in and out on your journey, you deserve to be penalised.
I've lived in London my entire life, and have never been overcharged when using TFL unless it was my own fault (drunkenly not tapping out). My brother works for TFL so does not pay for his travel, however he has dealt with many people who have paid the full price because they couldn't be bothered to tap out. Their own fault.
The TFL system doesn't randomly just throw an extra £5 on your journey for no reason.
You're yet to give a reason why people shouldn't use Contactless cards over Oyster when the new regulations and accounts go live soon.0 -
I'm having trouble setting up the 2 qualifying DD's. The Santander ones just aren't materialising for me or OH. I'd already set up ones to Tesco, and was originally going to set the other qualifying DD's as one from my Lloyds to OH Tesco and one from OH Lloyds to my Tesco, but when I started to do this it said the sending account must be in the same name (that's when I gave Santander a go). Anyway, as Santander ones have not got anywhere for either of us, I went ahead and set up the Tesco ones as originally planned. They're showing, but I haven't had any written confirmation yet. My question is, when I click on the OH Lloyds DD account when logged into my Tesco account (which I'd set up as monthly, but from May so it'd be on the same day as my other Tesco one), it offers me the option of regular or one off. I want to request a payment by DD now to get one in for April, but if I choose one off, will it override the regular monthly option I'd already set up? (Sorry for long winded explanation
).
The regular monthly DD will be affected only if you amend it. If you request a new one-off DD then that will be effective in parallel but from memory need about 3 days for the money to be pulled.0
