"If Kontakt was genuine they'd have a sensible web page link with Kontakt in the domain name."

yes they do have a proper web page Kontaktmobile.co.uk and they are a polish company so ask your polish friends, if you have any, about it.

It's the lack of notice that really gets me, it's left me and my daughter with no mobile until I can get my hands on new sims. She's out tonight with a friend, lets hope she doesn't need to contact me urgently as she will have no service!

Own fault really you should NEVER rely on a FREE network for safety/emergencies!!

I think all these cheap/free services eventually get swamped by people who never want to spend any money, like students, cheapskates etc and end up shutting down the revenue stream

Like most of the people on here.

To be honest you can never totally rely on any network. Giffgaff has had its fair share of problems in that area in the past, as has EE only this week.

How did we all manage before mobile phones? :D
  • The poor guys at OVIVO were completely at the mercy of their Mobile Virtual Network Aggregator, Cognatel, who are the middle men between OVIVO and Vodafone.
It was Cognatel who pulled the plug over a dispute over software that according to OVIVO they were contracted to supply.
This software would have allowed OVIVO to uniquely identify each of their users.
So why would this be prevented......the plot thickens!

One theory, of course, is that Ovivo were actually starting to get some success and as a result, the big boys decided to make sure they were shut down.

    Enough with the conspiracy theories...

Believe or not the MVNOs are given access to Vodafone's and other networks on the basis that they are successful and provide a source of revenue from customers that the networks themselves would struggle to reach. There are far more successful MVNOs out there than Ovivo!

Other MVNOs have a similar business model to voda and are priced competitively. Ovivo were free for light to moderate use.

Imagine if all the mugs paying vodafone for contracts and PAYG were suddenly leaving to use this free network.
