I have spent a good hour reading through every post in this thread. Very inspirational and its good to hear someone else who sometimes feels 'what's the point' and then gets back on the horse and pushes up the hill again.

I paid off my debts and continued and working on my savings now.

I wish you all the best, and look forward to continuing to read your diary :-)

P.S. Mightly impressive how you have reduced your debts so much!

P.P.S. I still have a mortgage so I am not that lucky!!!!
My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.

  • Hiya Captain,

Just read through your thread, half way through I realised I've read it before lol. I just want to add to what everyone else is saying really you are doing so well. Keep up the hard work you will be debt free in no time.

I would recommend a in case of emergency account though. I put £50 a month to one side. Because like you I have reduced CC balance to resist temptation of spending on it again. It's nice to have some back up funds just in case.

Looking forward to following your journey xx

  • Aye Aye Captain

No Payment updates today but I hope to "nearly" clear CC3 in early October or 4 weeks if that sounds better.

We have been blessed with good weather but as Fisherman we know that the Sea will slowly turn. Not all bad for us as we will hunt the Cod.

In London last week to see the Accountant and ensure we are sticking to fishing quotas.

Been taking a Butchers around other boards on here, some interesting stuff.

Hope you all have a good weekend and debt busting.

  • Ahoy there GunWharf

Have read through your diary and what an inspiration! Blasting over 45per cent of your debt since February is no mean achievement! You have what Debt guru Dave Ramsey explains as a "gazelle intensity" which means that you get down and concentrate and don't get sidetracked by spending on non- essentials! (I don't have this talent by the way so I admire somebody who does).!

Anyway good luck with the rest of the debt blasting and I have subscribed.

  • Hello Seasidegal58

Nice of you to stop by.

It has been a very hard Summer but I knew I had to throw everything at the debt. I go out one night a month now and limit myself to a crisp £20 note.

No BBQ's or parties this Summer and I can not lie, it has been hard seeing all my friends on FB at Summer Parties. I have a huge A1 Year planner on my wall which I can tick off daily.

It has not been all bad, I still have a reasonable life! Vouchers for Fast food places etc.

One thing that has come out of all this is, I have put on a huge amount of weight. Eating cheap snacks such as Russler Burgers etc rather than more costly meals. Of course I still have plenty of fish to eat but it does get boring!

    All the best.

  • Hi GunWharf

It's hard turning down invitations especially if they are outside in the sunshine. But the way your debt is going down, you'll be the party animal next summer! Plus what a brain you'll have with all that fish you've consumed

  • A few people are annoyed I will not go out with them blowing money tonight. Two Choices:
Wake up tomorrow with enough money to feed, survive and get through the week OR Wake up tomorrow bust and getting into more debt?

I will take the right path.

Have a lovely evening all, ps-X Factor is a hoot tonight!
