Or do you work for EE...

I am a member of the cheap energy club and switched over from Eon to EDF a couple of weeks ago. Despite this I have not been asked to provide any meter readings to my previous supplier or new one. I have taken the readings but this process is new to me so can anybody please let me know when I should contact them to give readings?
I have EDF welcome emails and a letter from Eon saying sorry you're leaving us but that's all so far.
Can somebody please advise? Thanks0 -
They will ask you for a meter read. It generally takes about 3 weeks to get set up. Have you checked your on line account ?
My timeline was
25 Feb - CEC application
26 Feb - EDF confirmation of tariff
29 Feb - EDF "you'll soon be on" giving account number - use this to set up your on line account
17 Mar - EDF your dd is now set up
21 Mar - EDF your supply will start on 17 Mar
but I had already been following the switch on line and gave a read on 17th. You do not need to contact your old supplier, everything is handled by EDF.0 -
Well some good news, Extra Energy Complaints department now dealing with the issue.
Bad news is as I was told before, after the "erroneous transfer" of my neighbours meter was sorted out last year, because I was on a dual fuel basis they should have unlinked the gas account from my electricity account, but didn't.
So it has been escalated to the technical department to do this, but been told it will take between 14-21 working days, so realistically we are talking 3 to 4 weeks. This means no bill until they have done that, then they need to see if the back billing process should apply (which I think it should, obvs!)
Still a ways to go by the looks of it, but I assume they still need to sort the whole mess out in 8 weeks from my initial complaint, which will be tight.
Anyway, you have been a very attentive audience, hast la vista, catch you on the flip side, adious, adieu!0 -

If only theory and practice produced the same result.
I have switched many times and never had an issue with the new supplier providing the old supplier with agreed opening/closing readings etc. It isn't something that new suppliers can ignore as the switching process and responsibilities are enshrined in the Supply Licence. What the old supplier does with the closing readings is another matter. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
