Add your feedback on energy supplier Extra Energy

I went into my bank account this morning to do my usual monthly check and discovered that Extra Energy had set up a Direct Debit on my account on the 9/11 for £48.75 as an initial payment !!!
As I have never heard of them before, I was rather taken aback, especially since my normal supplier, whom I am with until next May had taken their DD on the 16/11.
A rather annoyed complaint was immediately made to NatWest as to how this was allow to happen without my knowledge and a demand for the monies to be returned and the DD closed.
Has anyone else had this problem with this company ??? Do I have any recourse ? I don't seem to be able to find out very much about them.0 -

However, your bank presumably accepted the DD mandate without checking that the name on the account was the same as yours - which presumably it isn't?
Ironically the new EE customer could well be another person who banks at the same branch as you as perhaps two of the account number digits got reversed (rather than the sort code)?
Doubt you will get any satisfaction from EE - even if it was their error (which I doubt) - as they are hard to contact etc. (as you will have gathered from the other posts on this thread).0 -

How could they have your banking details without you having at least been in touch with them in some way?
I haven't the faintest idea. I haven't had any contact with them and nothing from them in respect of setting up an account, just an initial DD taken of £48.00 which the bank is going to refund, thankfully. I am quite careful about these things, so noticed it straight away on going into my account.0 -

Citizens Advice publishes first complaints league table of 18 biggest energy firms
Consumers have made nearly 20 times as many complaints about the worst energy companies as they have about the best performing supplier, according to new data from Citizens Advice.
The consumer champion today publishes its quarterly energy supplier league table, which for the first time includes complaints data of the 18 largest energy suppliers operating in the UK market.
Previously the charity has only published the complaints figures of the largest six energy firms.
The findings reveal huge variations in how well energy companies are performing:
- ScottishPower is still the worst performing supplier, with 944 complaints per 100,000 customers.
- Extra Energy is the second worst performing supplier with 769 complaints per 100,000 customers.
- First Utility, Spark Energy, nPower and Co-Operative Energy all have more than 400 complaints per 100,000 customers.

No, it isn't.
It appears that the DD was set up on the 24th April 2015 ! The first payment was taken on the 9th November 2015 of £48.00 and states it is an irregular payment.
At no time have I been in contact with, nor Extra Energy with me.
The Bank are sending me a copy of the DD request. obviously I wish to know how they had my bank details !0 -
Steer clear of these idiots......
I cancelled within the 14 day cooling off period, they acknowledged my email cancellation, yet still pursued the switch.
When I contacted them, i was told they couldn't stop the switch?? my current energy supplier has had to 'object' to the switch going forward.
P!ss poor company all round.Official MR B fan club,dont go............................0 -

If you click on the DD on your online bank statement it should show the Extra Energy A/C no. to which the DD was applied0
