    Hi All,

    I switched the end of september, working out my bill I actually owe extra energy money but I have not yet had a final bill? I cancelled my DD to them. Should I be chasing them for the final bill or not?

    If you definitely owe them just put the money away and earn some interest on it.

    Chances are the bill will turn up eventually however you should request a final bill by email (and keep proof of that request) then just hope 12 months go by at which point the Back Billing rules would apply whereby they can't bill you for any energy you used more than 12 months ago provided you can prove you have entered meter readings when required to and requested a bill in the intervening period and they are definitely at fault for not providing a bill.

    It's obviously an entirely different ball game for those customers who left with a credit balance which Extra Energy are deliberately holding onto and are refusing to refund within 6 weeks in accordance with their own terms and conditions and those of their Operator's Licenses. :mad:

    For years now we have been compared with the Germans and told how they are better than us at everything. Well now we know we shouldn't believe everything we hear.
  • Worst energy supplier I have used in fifty years of paying for Gas and Electricity.
    Impossible to get through on telephone.
    cannot get regular usage updates.
    Letters threatening Warrant of entry even though my account has NEVER been in debit.

    Technically it is an offence to retain something to which you are not entitled to.

    My account switched on 10/09 and to date nothing from them after that date barring a call (at my workplace) asking for meter readings for my home. I said I could not read the meter as it stands today, but I gave them the closing readings (the person sounded surprised that I could do that, but I keep a spreadsheet). Forty-two days later, on 22nd October, I sent a "signed for" letter to their registered office and their trading address requesting a bill and a refund. I have heard nothing in the ensuing 21 days. Five more weeks and I can approach the Ombudsman. They don't owe me much, but what annoys me is that if they had not raised my direct debit twice (once in breach of contract as set out somewhere up there in this thread), we would have been within a fiver of even.

  • From my own experience the service provided by the Ombudsman is on a par with Extra Energy. I do wonder if they are one and the same disorganisation. I lodged a complaint with them over three months ago and have achieved nothing so far.
