Your Direct Debit has been cancelled
We’ve received notification from your bank that you’ve cancelled your Direct Debit instruction. This means we won’t be able to collect your agreed payments.
  • Please provide your new Direct Debit details as soon as possible
If you’ve missed a payment we’ll also need to take this from you, so please have your debit card available just in case.
We don't want you to pay more
It’s important that you contact us as soon as possible. If we don’t hear from you within 10 working days of the date of this correspondence, we’ll automatically switch you to non- Direct Debit prices. This means you’ll pay more for your energy.

In addition, if the payments you’ve made so far don’t cover your usage, you’ll need to pay the outstanding amount.

    Keeping you informed

Call me bonkers but I've signed up for the new fixed tariff and opted to continue with payment on receipt of bill.

Steering clear of payment by DD has avoided all the hassle that many on here have experienced over the last 18 months and apart from some of the bills being late in arriving which suited me fine, as my money stayed in my bank account longer.

I'd certainly recommend to anyone on the DD tariff changing to payment on bill if they are thinking of staying with EE on the new fixed tariff. The daily standing charge may be higher but the peace of mind that come from being in control of your money is well worth the slight extra you'll pay.
  • 'Payment on receipt of bill' is probably the only sensible way to stay as a customer of this company but do they allow existing DD customers to change to this method of payment? Has anyone managed to do it?

In the email they sent advising of the new fixed rate tariff, it gave a a link to a site giving a choice of either DD or payment on bill.

Clicked on the choice for payment on bill and got an immediate confirmation of my choice.

    Couldn't have been simpler!

So it looks like existing DD customers do have the choice.
  • Of course many people prefer a regular monthly sum rather than peaks and troughs but, if that suits you, then best of luck staying with EE. At least you are getting a good tariff.

Most people could deal with the peaks and troughs of utility bills if they really put their mind to it but many are happy to take the easy way out which is just what the companies want.

Guaranteed cash flow with the opportunity to increase the flow of funds (through increases to DD) when the corporate need (or greed) arises.

I've taken to cancelling my direct debit about a week before it is due to come out. Then I call them after the date, "Oh sorry, I cancelled it by mistake! Please set it up again next month... "

And on it will go until December when I can switch penalty free :D
  • I am coming to the end of my EE contract & will switch soon.

I know roughly how much I will owe them and it is a lot less than the next DD. I am minded to cancel the DD and pay what I estimate to be the outstanding amount with my credit card through their website's 'Make a Payment' facility. Has anyone successfully used this payment method? (On the phone they say they cannot take a card payment)
