Join Date: Dec 14 £83pm
First Bill: June 15 £73pm

I too have had a letter regarding contract renewal (by email of course).

Edit: I note EE assumes over 33,000 KwH per annum for gas, which is some 8,000 more than we used last year...

Text of my next letter to Extra Energy: (recorded delivery both to Registered and Trading addresses)

Thank you for your letter dated 16th August 2015 received via email. Can you please tell me, as a matter of urgency, why you have estimated our annual gas usage at slightly over 33,000KwH when our actual gas usage for twelve months under our current plan was approximately 25,500 and readings have been submitted on a monthly basis? (This is an increase in our projected usage of 30%, which I hardly think is justifiable.) I will need the answer to this question in order to properly assess whether I wish to continue with Extra Energy or change to a new supplier. You may answer via email to [my email address].

Wonder how long it'll take to get an answer?

For us, more sense to split gas and electricity.

Migrating to 2 year deal with Zog for gas.

Staying with Extra for electricity only for the fixed price electricity (Clear) to November 2016.

Assuming you were already a dual fuel customer with Extra Energy I'd be interested to know how you achieved this split?

As a dual fuel customer the link they provided in my "Your tariff is coming to an end" email takes me to a page where I only have the option to renew the dual fuel contract for their latest direct dual fuel replacement.

There is no option available to change/update to just the electricity element on it's own.

As an existing dual fuel customer I can get a quote but can't order electricity from them on it's own. Out of curiosity I rang them and asked if I decided I just wanted to stay with them for electricity only and take my gas elsewhere how it could be done.

No surprise that they didn't initially know but after disappearing for a while eventually came back with the unbelievable answer that it couldn't be done online and that I would need to ring Domestic Sales and get them to set up a separate account as an electricity only customer. Not surprisingly I never went any further. :rotfl:

Perhaps it would easier to setup a new account together with a new contract and just inform Extra Energy that you only use electricity.

I received my email today from Extra Energy informing me that my contract was coming to an end. I have had not much problems with Extra Energy because I have kept a close eye on my monthly meter readings and entering my monthly usage.

Their new contract offer is still cheaper than all of the energy competitors.

One thing that I did notice in the small print with the new contract - "This information may vary from the original prices outlined in your email." Does this mean that the quoted prices with the new contract may change at the end of September when the new contract comes into force?

No, it means that the prices quoted in the on line official offer may vary from the end of term e-mail so if you leave it a while to sign up the actual prices may have changed but will then be fixed at that price.
• Well I've had enough, have told them I am changing back to EON asap without penalty, Only ONE bill since last Sept and because of that D/D put up to £211 as used more, gave me no chance to economise had I realised, I am no good at working out my own bill. never had any bother with EON for many years.
• My feedback - INCOMPETENT.

Call me picky ,but I really do not want to telephone a company and hang on the line for 18 minutes before I can speak to someone. Then I also do not want to have to operate has a gobetween for ExtraEnergy and Hydron when it comes to making a simple appointment to carryout a periodic inspection of the meter , and yes when I actually notify you I am on holiday and give you the dates then I really do expect that between you it might be possible to communicate this information.
In short this company is unfortunately everything I feared a new small company might be. Totally inequipped to supply a service in what I would term to be a reasonable manner.

I've just initiated a switch from Extra Energy (I received no reply to my letter asking why they had used 33,000KwH for gas estimate rather than the 25,000 we actually used in a year). I've gone with Green Star because most of their feedback is quite positive (and a little bit because it's a Yank company, well I have been an ex-pat for 38 years).
