Without doubt the poorest service I've ever had.

In short I contacted them every month submitting my Gas & Electricity readings. I never ever received a bill.

In the end I contacted the Ombudsman. Even they had to prompt them and at the 11.th hour, some 6 months after leaving them I received what was owed me plus compensation.

Good luck to anyone who stays with this supplier.

Well I got my second bill a week ago. I could not believe it. The DD payment is also spot on.

Any bets on Extra Energy not informing customers that their contracts are coming to an end on 30th September? (If they are going to do it should happen between 12th and 19th August.)

Well blow me down with a feather I'll now have to eat my bloody hat! :rotfl:

An email has been received this morning.
Account number: XX XX XX XX
Date: 16 August 2015
Supply address: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Dear Mr XXXXXXXXX,

Your tariff is coming to an end - it’s time consider your options

As one of our first customers we’d like to thank you for joining us in our first year of business.

Please see the attached explanation about your current fixed price tariff coming to an end. This will provide all the information you need about this tariff and explains what happens next.
You can choose your new Tariff online at https://extraenrgy.com/tariffchange

We look forward to hearing from you soon,

Best wishes,

Crucially the attached letter contains the following
Important information about exit fees:
• If you switch to another extraenergy tariff, you won’t be charged an exit fee
• You can change to another supplier when your contract ends, without having to pay an exit fee
• You can swap tariff or switch supplier up to 49 days before your contract ends without incurring an exit fee
• If you have an outstanding balance on your account and try to switch supplier, we may object. You’ll have 30 days to settle the balance. Provided you pay us, and the switch is completed within three weeks of the cleared payment, we’ll continue to supply your energy on your current contract terms and fixed prices. If you don’t settle the outstanding debt within 30 working days, we may prevent you from switching supplier and will move you onto our standard variable tariff
It's now time to start looking for a replacement supplier and ask the the all important questions were they really that bad after all and are they finally getting their act together? Are the cheaper replacements really likely to be any better or worse?
• ^ exactly the topic of our discussions - apart from your bit about receiving builds/emails/letters from EE :/

For us, more sense to split gas and electricity.

Migrating to 2 year deal with Zog for gas.

Staying with Extra for electricity only for the fixed price electricity (Clear) to November 2016.

Not everyone has gas though.

And a piece of string is. . . how long? And a piece of string is. . . how much? The only way you're ever going to know is (a) by measuring it and (b) buying it. As so many on here already have the measure of Extra Energy, then buying it again seems quite courageous. Good luck.

I do believe you may have possibly slightly misunderstood/misinterpreted my post. I'm not buying it again! Been there, done that and bought the teeshirt. I was asking questions not providing answers. :D

As nothing much appears to have changed for the better over time I will stick with the opinion of Extra Energy which I expressed in an earlier post.
If Extra Energy decided to give their gas and electricity away for free I would still leave them in September - life is too short and they really are unfit to be in the UK energy supply business.

The only good luck I need is in trying to avoid choosing another set of muppets to replace Extra Energy although to be fair the market does seem to be riddled with more than it's fair share of them at the moment. Unfortunately that's the result of Ofgem handing out Operator's Licenses like sweeties without doing full and proper supplier checks before issuing them.

There could be other tariffs available between now and the end of September and for me these are the best of the bunch. I save about £72 per year by moving to their new fixed price tariff. As I have received two bills now and seem to be receiving emails from them I may stay. I am under no illusions about the service but keep an eye on my usage myself and the new DD they have set me on is spot on for what I use a year. If it wasn't I would alter it to suit my needs. Like others O have kept my gas with Zog Energy, not the cheapest for me but am very pleased with their customer service.

I received my email today from Extra Energy informing me that my contract was coming to an end. I have had not much problems with Extra Energy because I have kept a close eye on my monthly meter readings and entering my monthly usage.

Their new contract offer is still cheaper than all of the energy competitors.

One thing that I did notice in the small print with the new contract - "This information may vary from the original prices outlined in your email." Does this mean that the quoted prices with the new contract may change at the end of September when the new contract comes into force?
