    Extra Energy are a Nightmare

switched from them in march, just got a final bill, bearing in mind i have spent the best part of 3 hours on the phone with them over the course of a 3 weeks try to get a final bill only to find im £541 in debit

Strange as i worked it out at £34.63

what makes it worse is they couldn't add up if you gave them a calculator and punched the numbers in for them on the phone now on automated hold and have been for the last 30 minutes

theses are a bunch of amateurs you really need to avoid

the maths are very simple and i bet your kids could work this out
    amount used 7048 kwh including vat@5% 9.429 per kw= 664.56
    Standing Charge 57.54 per day including vat@ 5% x 306 days =£176.07

so if you add £664.56 and £176.07 you get ......... £840.63 ayyyy
Now since may at the start of this nightmare i have paid by Direct Debit a total of 7 payments of £102 and 2 payments of £46.00 so in total i have paid .........£806.00 simples!!!

Now take £806.00 from £840.63 and you get according to Extra Energy £545.21 in Debit work that out

Extra Energy its £34.63 you bunch of Amatures

I hope you have cancelled your Direct Debit as I would bet more chance in EE taking the £541 than calling you on Monday.

I have started mass mailing EE with ever increasing names that I am sourcing. To be honest, I wouldnt be surprised at all if my email address has been added to the companies Junk mail account as they just not interested.

I wouldnt be surprised either if EE keep their office doors locked with security standing out front.

I switched electric to ee last October and have been following the thread with increasing alarm as I neared our break even point.
Today I have received an email to say my latest bill is ready. Completely unsolicited. It's an estimate (102 units under my unsubmitted read) for 29th December?? The new dd should go down by £3. I'll report back when it's been taken on the 10th May.

Good luck to everyone chasing refunds.

New dd went out today. I've done a quick calculation and I owe £13 so I'll leave it to for now although I will probably have to chase the £12 which was applied then disappeared.

hello, I was going through my inbox last night and for some unknown reason (bored I think) I just happened to clink on the link EE put on the welcome email and logged into my account to find that my balance was zero. Strange I thought as it said DD 2/1/15 £32, balance £32 then 6/1/15 DD failed, balance zero.
So I checked my bank account and found they had not been taking the DD. I checked my direct debit and its there they just have not been taking the payment, so in effect I owe them 5 payments.
So I checked for reviews and ended up here and then spent over 2 hours reading them, got to page 72 before I gave up.
So disgusted in this shambolic firm and the way they treat their customers and hold back on refunding money that is not theirs. Maybe this is a god send that my account is at zero?
So I know I owe them money and will email them today, my question is after reading the reviews would I be best not to contact them and just move and pay the £25 and wait for a final bill. Something or should I say this page is telling me to.
    thanks

    Ok

    Update

contacted the bunch of amateurs this morning and again waited 40 minutes on hold

proved that they were committing a very naughty act ( they sent a revised bill that i used 11678kw instead of 7074) told them i had contacted Energy Ombudsman and i have contacted watchdog, slagged them off on Facebook and replied on this forum also told them Direct debit has been cancelled and ill happily see them in court

they replied but offering a good will payment and debt that i didn't owe) written off ill wait for the confirmation email but im not holding my breath

ill not be phoning them again and would suggest that anyone using them should:-
    1. cancel their contract at the earliest opportunity
    2. Record their meter reading at the end of each month
    3. keep all information including all correspondents
    4. ensure if there is an exit fee you leave after the contract date not before
    5. ensure that the credit with them is kept to a minimum as its harder to get money back than it is to pay a dept
    6. make sure if you are in dept you can afford to pay this back

    Most important

we know the big six are expensive but one has to ask the question is the expense worth the hassle of a small company and the pitfalls this brings

Good advice I think. As you can see from my EE Payments Summary they tried to take £388 from me after they produced my Final Bill showing me to be in credit. I left them in December and I'm still waiting for my refund.

BTW the only entries that are correct in the summary are the 2 at the bottom. The Final Bill amount is not the same as on the actual bill, they should not have attempted the DD, they've cancelled my Final Bill which which I reckoned was calculated correctly, and I haven't a clue what the other cancelled bill is, it's not the first one as that was cancelled as part of the final bill calculation.

    Date Activity Credits Debits Balance
    07/05/15 Cancelled bill £295.43 £875.49 CR
    07/05/15 Cancelled bill £366.68 £580.06 CR
    21/04/15 Unpaid Direct Debit £366.68 £213.38 CR
    20/04/15 Direct Debit payment £366.68 £580.06 CR
    09/04/15 Your bill (PDF) £366.68 £213.38 CR
    28/11/14 Direct Debit payment £115.00 £580.06 CR
    21/11/14 Your bill (PDF) £224.94 £465.06 CR

    Welcome to the asylum :-)

If you owe EE money and they are not taking the Direct Debits as agreed and this is still active on your bank account. Well you have nothing to worry about except the fact you have a bill to pay maybe in the future... Thats to say they even manage to bill you! I would put it in a safe place for when that time comes.
Once you are out of contract leave these cowboys which you can do 49 days before your tariff ends without encountering the fee for leaving.
I wouldnt even waste your time contacting them, let EE do their jobs correctly, why should you do it for the lazy bandits.

Looks like their website is down and their Facebook page also seems to have disappeared?

Does this mean they are about to slip off the radar...

Website is back up and I see they have entered the readings that were taken last thursday by a man in an unmarked car with no visible ID badge that I could see.

Electricity bill received today, 4½ months after joining; that's fine so far as it goes (it was correct, too!) but I had kindof thought that the gas & electricity bills would come together. Never mind.
