  • After not receiving a reply to my email requesting Erudio post me a REVISED deferment form, I did something stupid ... I rang them and asked for a revised deferment form. The lady asked me for my DOB, address etc and then asked me for my current phone number (which I declined to give) she then asked if I was sure I wanted the form posted (and not emailed...so Erudio could capture my email address) I said yes. I have pre and post 1998 loans with Erudio. My question is this:

    1. What contact information am I legally required to give Erudio? Is my current address sufficient?

    2. Do I legally have to given them my bank account info?

    Thanks everyone!

It's not 10 pages though, is it? They're now fitting 2 pages onto one side of A4, so more like 20 pages, and even more drivel than last year's 16 page guide. They really do take us for idiots.

Thought it was shorter. Only viewed the new one online so missed that.

  • Hi everyone,

I'm new to posting to this thread but I have been following it with great interest as Im currently in the middle of a row with Erudio. I won't go into too much detail as my situation is similar to many of you who have submitted deferrals without either using the DAF or not agreeing to the terms of the DAF. I lodged an official complaint regarding their failure to process my deferrals and their refusal to update my address even though they've been given this information and are now threatening me with arrears letters. I received an acknowledgement to my current address last week that they were investigating my complaint and today received a letter to my old address sent here via redirection stating yet again that I've not signed my DAF (not accurate and I have a scanned copy of everything I have sent to Erudio), that I need to send my paperwork confirming my income for deferral, (I'm disabled so my income is benefit based) and they want copies of my bank statements with the benefit amounts highlighted. I intend to write yet another letter of complaint about this, but I wanted to double check that I am not obliged to provide my bank statements and also if there is any legislation or any guidance I can use to progress my complaint further. They know I am disabled and have ongoing health issues and yet I continue to receive arrears letters, they refuse to process my deferral and continue to send letters to my previous address even though they have been notified in writing now three times that I have moved. The stress and worry about this becoming an entrenched battle is beginning to get to me so if anyone could guide me in my next complaint, I would be incredibly grateful. I intend to fight this all the way as I strongly believe in challenging this company and their (mal)practices but sometimes I find it difficult to remain detached as the financial implications worry me. I'm sorry this is a bit longwinded too! Many thanks Louise.

They don't seem to be too hot on replying to emails, do they? I emailed them yesterday requesting confirmation of having received my DAF (sent by Recorded Delivery) and also an update regarding my deferment status, but as yet haven't had a reply. I emailed both the address they gave in the form and also a specific customer service email address someone posted earlier in this thread. I re-emailed them just and will continue to do so until they reply - or I have go and speak with the Ombudsman about their shoddy customer service. On the plus side, I checked Royal Mail's Trace and Track service earlier; my DAF is confirmed as delivered and it shows a picture of the recipient's signature - which I've saved and printed off for potential future reference.

Incidentally, I crossed out the section asking for Direct Debit details after someone here posted a link to their site which informs us that provision of D/D details is now optional. I also left the bank details section blank.

Don't think you are obliged to send bank statements - just 'show' your income. I did send copies of bank statements to them (it was easier than arguing) but blacked out anything that was not relevant to their request - numbers, other transactions, the ongoing balance - maybe you could do this? If all they want to see is the money going in then that is all you need provide them with - anything else is none of their business!

Have they replied to your official complaint yet? - if not take your complaint to the Ombudsman if it has been more than 8 weeks (I think).

    Best of luck :)

Got a response to my angry email re: not sending duplicate deferment forms. SLC sent me an apology, and attachment with a blank deferment form that I filled in and sent back by post AND email. SLC have confirmed my deferment via quick email and say that the deferment letter is in the post. I think I shall scan it and email/post recorded delivery to Erudio in case they 'lose' notification again. They can't steal any more money from my account though, as I cancelled my direct debit (on the bank's advice).

    Which brings me to this:

Yesterday I received a letter from Erudio stating that as I have no direct debit attached to my account I am in breach of agreement!

They also mention that they'll be posting me one of their deferral forms soon which I shall NOT be filling out.

GirlGeek, looks like we're in a very similar boat...

    They're at it again!!

I'm in the 'lucky' position of having split loans, I filled in my SLC DAF and posted it Saturday just gone. Today I've had a letter from Erudio telling me my deferment is due to expire and that I will start paying the day after it's expiry. (HA!!) In the kind of blunt language that makes you think you have no choice but pay.

It also mentions I don't have a direct debit set up which is just a lie; there is, and always has been, one (they stole from it)!! I assume they're saying this for future reference to make it look like my contract has been breached and that the loan doesn't have to be written off when I reach 50....
    meh...

Other people have been sent that letter from Erudio when they are shared borrowers. The direct debit part is just bullshiit as we know as they now dont insist on it in new forms. you can ignore that.

The sending forms part probably just refers to the SLC ones.

"a deferment form is being sent to you under separate cover"
