anna2007 - not a clue why you are getting them. :rotfl:
Lol, yes, except I didn't actually get any!

Personally, I think they've said the nonexistent CCA notice is the reason for waiving part of the interest to deflect attention from their real motive. Which is probably to claim further down the line that there are arrears on my account due to interest being understated (by them!) on my statements.

If that is what they're up to, doesn't seem a very convincing ploy, more desperation really, but then they're a desperate bunch. :D

They did send you an incorrect annual statement did they not? That could be the reason for interest being waived?

  • Can anyone give me some advice? I've received an arrears notice today from bl**dy Erudio for two student loans that I was told were in deferment.

I have been deferring my accounts for years with SLC with no problem due to long term sickness. My usual date to reapply for deferment was in April but this year I didn't receive the forms*. About two weeks before the date, I got a letter from Erudio saying they had taken over two loans and demanded repayment.

Then I had two months of problems with both Erudio and SLC saying that the other was responsible for administering the deferment (I sent off forms to SLC and Erudio). Finally two months later I had notice that the deferment was successful

Now I have received a letter today saying I am two months in arrears as of June '14 (which is the two months where they messed me around). Plus they didn't give appropriate notice of the fact that they'd taken over my accounts.

What should I do? I hate this company. Am I supposed to pay even though Erudio messed me around? I haven't had any income for years. This has really stressed me out receiving this letter today.

*My third loan was sold to Thesis and they sent me the form and administered the deferment without any trouble or delay.

PS. I also got a "Remedy of Account" letter today and don't have a clue what that's about. The "Arrears" letter I received today is dated 02 June 2014.

    - receiving CCA remediation letter and historical arrears notices by the looks of it?

dizzybuff - receiving arrears notices as they are falling behind in payments while their account is currently disputed for whatever reason? And some from earlier in the year?

That's correct for me. I know I'm not in arrears as my statement showed it as £0. Well, I think I'm not but I am going to query it to make sure. I glanced through the CCA letter and it was only after I read it properly that I realised it was historic (whilst waiting for deferment). Looks like a batch have gone out - how kind of Erudio to worry people just before Christmas. They could have made the letter a lot clearer than it was.

That's like mine - deferment was a problem then sorted and backdated with no gaps but whilst waiting for sorted I apparently had arrears. When I had my statement in September it said I had no arrears so I'm going off that. I think they had to send these letters out to cover what happened earlier in the year even if the situation has since changed.

The cynic in me would say they haven't made it as clear as they could do to try and persuade people to make payment.

I only received one annual statement, in September, which shows part of the interest for the year has been waived.

When I made a complaint and requested a revised statement, Erudio said the interest was waived due to the interest stated on their CCA letter in June being incorrect. Never received the letter, haven't been in arrears, but they haven't amended the interest on the revised statement sent with their final response. So it's going to FOS.

Seems like Erudio keep tripping over themselves then, having to send letter to correct it, find they are a bit wrong, then have to correct that, in the meantime something else has happened which requires another correction, but they don't make it clear what!

Or that sort of thing anyway. :rotfl:

As your loans are split between Erudio/Thesis, it should be Thesis/SLC dealing with your deferment for ALL of your loans. This has been confirmed via an FOI request and there's also something on Erudio's website under 'Other FAQs'

Send Erudio proof of your Thesis deferment then tell them where to stick their arrears letter!
