    Check your PMs.

You still may have to fight, but hopefully you can get past the first line of 'know nothing' SLC staff to the ones who actually know the score.

  • Oooh thanks for that Fermi, will come in handy for me too (4 loans with Erudio and 2 with Honours)
  • Thank you fermi :) I was searching for split loans and should have tried joint loans as well!

I'm going to give it a go and send a covering letter to SLC to state that there is a loan number missing from the form but I would like them to apply the deferment application to all 3 loans. I will come back and let you know what happens....
As a shared borrower any deferments applied to your HSL loans will also apply to your Erudio Loan. Insist that your account is marked as such (shared borrower) so that next year you don't experience the same problem.

@ In_A_Pickle and clairet707 There's info on shared borrowers under the FAQ's on Erudio's website (at the bottom under "Any other questions"):

"If you have not previously applied for a deferment, or your deferment period has expired, it is your responsibility to contact one of your loan servicers (such as Erudio Student Loans, Honours Student Loans or Thesis Loan Servicing) to request a new deferment application form. You should notify your other loan servicers that you have submitted an application to your other provider. The outcome of your deferment application will be communicated to all of your loan servicers".

So you can both apply via HSL, SLC will process the deferment, and then you can tell Erudio to eff off!

It's the FCA and Credit Services Association who say collection activity must stop while a complaint's investigated, Erudio have to abide by the rules of both organisations.

For the Financial Conduct Authority - See 7.5.3 & 7.14.1 here:

For the Credit Services Association - page 11/26

Thanks Anna, that's just what I wanted.

Thanks again :T Must have missed it before on here, & can't find it on Erudios website.
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...
  • What happened in my case was that initially all they sent me was 1 page from their DAF (section 9) which I completed with my income, signed & dated. I included a covering letter saying what proof of income I was sending, & that I'd only been asked to complete that 1 page of their DAF.

Today I have a complete DAF to fill in, but no instruction booklet that is referred to on the DAF (not even in standard print, never mind large).

I've spent a few more hours compiling a complaints letter that I'm going to re-read tomorrow before emailing it & posting it.

Do I need to wait for 8 weeks from putting in the complaint to Erudio before I can go to the FOS, or can I complain to both at the same time? My brain is a bit fried with all this tonight...

Pretty sure I'm close to having missed 2 payments, yet not a written word from Erudio about my arrears - anyone would think they want me to run up more than 3 months arrears so they can say I've defaulted :rotfl:
I would try complaining at the same time.

Go to FOS website. Root around for their contact info. You will be offered various methods to get in contact with them. Try the email route. I think it starts with something like complaints@

Give the details of your problem and stress the urgency of the situation. 2 months already in arrears, and more arrears to follow? If Erudio already have your bank details? then there is the added stress of worrying when they are going to start taking money. 8 weeks = more financial hardship/debt/stress etc. Remember to include your name and all the relevant details regarding your Erudio account (account number..)

Your email will be automatically acknowledged. Read the acknowledgement email and follow any advice that it gives. Don’t look at it as a negative. After a few days/weeks (FOS is busy) you may get a reply to your email with a reference number for your case.

I wouldn’t faff about with posting a complaint to Erudio. In the time it has taken you to go down to the post office, pay for recorded, keep an eye on track and trace, you could have saved yourself time and money by sending an email.

If you can attach your complaint to the email. PDF is a good format to use. Label the PDF something like ‘Official Complaint’ and in the body of your email remember to put your name, address, DOB, loan account/customer ref numbers. Also make it clear that you want this communication treated as an official complaint.

Which complaint will be responded to with a generic response or not take seriously? The one raised by the customer? Or the one raised on the customers behalf by the FOS?

Exactly - they didn't respond to my complaint (or 2 other letters) until FOS got involved. Besides what is the worst they can say? Worth a try going to fos :)

Yes, you can get the FOS involved to a certain respect before you receive a final response or the 8 weeks are up.

    See: http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
We can help by contacting the business for you, and telling them about your complaint.
A letter from the FOS at an early stage outlining your complaint can do wonders.

So after the cropping day at work I come home to my annual statement which waffles on about interest rates and payment amounts yet doesn't include any official change of amount just a "you must pay" so I phone them up to ask why I have arrears on my account and I get you weren't happy about our explanation and went to fos so we put them back on. Am I right in thinking my account should be on hold till they get a decision. I'm passed off with them. I have a change in financial circumstances and worried I will have to pay them for three months to get what I need to defer.they sent a statement of earnings. But through that they are getting more personal information. I've just had the biggest panic attack going
going. I didn't ask to be single and get benefits so I can pay my kids childcare and work
Yet I'm being penalised for doing so. I'm in tears here.
