ERUDIO student loans help

and dont forget, most people had to wait 8 weeks for erudio to process the complaints before complaining. I would expect the next reports to have the info if more than 30 of us have complained.
I bet Capita is high on the list, although they will be hidden by the companies who hired them to conduct their own particular brand of outsourced 'stir-it-up, no personal involvement' customer service.0 -
Does feel like p***ing in the wind. What with all the BIS stuff too its a massive sh*!%torm, and dunno if we the little people will ever be able to get to the bottom of it. We'll simply be ignored.
Can see us all in a few years with tinfoil hats ranting about big business conspiracies and being ignored by everyone but other tinfoil hat wearers.
Sickening really, as we've basically been sold out and the effort put in to fight it, if used more productively could probably have paid half our loans back by now.
Sorry for being on a downer about it!0 -
Well, if we give up, your vision will become a reality. We have had a clear effect so far, acting together. No one would have heard about anything if we didnt shout out a bit. We have been covered in the press and even by the BBC, and we did finally get some modicum of a resolution out of that, if only it was bad press for them, and we got Zach Lewy on the BBC answering questions about it, and other things. They have said they will redesign the deferment forms with MSE help, and we got them to admit to (and partially stop) the DD thefts. Its impossible to tell who is following the forums and following things up outside of the forums. There are many interested parties, with most not having to actually deal with them directly like us, but if we werent shouting, literally nothing would have happened.
I think Arrow have tied us into a forced marriage by buying us from our family, leaving us with little choice but to fight. The only other option is giving up, so we may as well get naked, lie on the bed and think of Zach Lewy. To me, as unwelcome, invasive and time consuming as it is, there is only one option...unfortunately!0 -
Yey. Great rousing reply! Fresh for the fight once more! grrrrr0

I'm with you Erudioed - even though it it a huge PITA for us & its a horrible deferment process to go through (compared to the old SLC process), we simply can't let them get away with this. What they're doing is wrong.
Still no news about my deferment here. Think I'm going to have to ring them soon, if my email chase up I've just sent doesn't get an answer. And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...0 -
Have to keep going on this.
A random thought summary on what to do if Erudio misbehave or do something you think is unfair or not right...
Please add anything you can think of or I might have missed this early in the morning before brain is properly caffeinated.
- Make a formal complaint putting Erudio on notice that you will be taking them to the Financial Ombudsman (FOS). http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
Take the complaint all the way to the FOS proper after Erudio give you a final response or after 8 weeks from your initial complaint. Whichever is sooner.
Don't let Erudio off the hook.
- FCA Rules - Perhaps familiarise yourself with at least section 7 CONC 7 of the FCA rules on how they shoudl behave collecting debts. Other parts such as post contract conduct and others in those rules may also be useful. All here. http://fshandbook.info/FS/html/FCA/CONC
Report any breaking of those rules in a formal complaint to consumer.queries@fca.org.uk
FCA cannot do anything on your particular case, but they can log and look into complaints and use those to consider taking action (legal or regulatory or removal of licence etc), as they have shown so far this year with many of the dodgy payday and debt management firms. If the FCA don't have complaints against Erudio it is harder for them to act.
Breach of those FCA rules would also be highly useful to emphasise in any FOS complaint.
Unfair practice not technically breaking the rules should also be reported.
- Tell the media - If you have something you think MSE shoudl know and/or report on then email news@moneysavingexpert.com
There are also other journalists who have shown an interest and/or published articles. Simon Read of the independent, Paul Lewis of BBC moneybox, Radio5, You and Yours on Radio 4 plus some others I'm sure.
- Other forums helping - primarily mumsnet
Link to the latest post on the latest thread there: http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/legal_money_matters/2093805-Erudio-Student-Loans-Continued-part-3?reverse=1
Quite a lot of useful stuff, and if you have info useful to share with them I would post it (mum or not).
For legal aspects (primarily court action should it come to that, but also general stuff), there are several forums such as http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/forum.php

Don't know whether anyone on here has seen this but a FOI request in 2008 yielded this document being released which details the procedures and practices of how SLC manage loans (and in particular deferment applications for MS loans): https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/1790/response/19206/attach/2/Class%20Manual%20PDF.pdf0

Interesting in the Q&A it says.Is all income included; bonuses, child benefit, maintenance payment, income from property letting,
London weighting etc?
A. Customers should be made aware that income from all sources will be included in our
calculations.
We know benefits were, but that answers the question on maintenance.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Haven't had a chance to check in here for a day or two. Just had a quick skim of new posts since I last checked and will read properly later.
Thought I'd give a quick update on my deferment. Seems the games have started.... I got a letter this week from Erudio. Confirms receipt of my deferment application - and then tells me I haven't provided enough information and asks me to confirm my means of income...
I've sent an email explaining that I sent full information including relevant documentation with my deferment application. Attached copies, etc.
Received an email response telling me they would respond in 14 days.
I'm so fed up with them. My health isn't good (which they were told in my application) and I'm not prepared to send copy after copy of the paperwork that they have already received.
I'll wait for their response and if they're still messing me around, I'll have to take it to the next stage - formal complaint and complaint to the FOS.0
