  • Can somebody more organised than me please point me to where I can find info about having my Erudio a/c frozen during the 8 weeks it may take them to reply to my formal complaint please?

I think I saw a post somewhere that a/cs could be frozen while in dispute - is this the same as freezing while my complaint is investigated?

    Thanks in advance.
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

It's the FCA and Credit Services Association who say collection activity must stop while a complaint's investigated, Erudio have to abide by the rules of both organisations.

For the Financial Conduct Authority - See 7.5.3 & 7.14.1 here:

For the Credit Services Association - page 11/26

  • Yep, be careful though. At the start of all this, when people were complaining, Capita didnt really have a system in place for answering any complaints so it seemed...nor did they have any answers for the common complaints. As such, most of us didnt get replies until the 8 weeks were just about up. Now though, for those common complaints, they may be able to provide their generic replies much quicker. However, if the deadline for the first payment is looming, and they still havent processed your application, i think it is a small safety net to lodge a complaint to give them time to process your deferment form.
Until Arrow decide to make it clear that Capita will not take a payment if they receive the DAF by a certain time (that they state for each of us), then i think this is the only safety measure we have to delay them 'stealing' a payment. It is an abuse of the way the system should work but Arrow could very easily restore order by making the entire process clearer and less ambiguous. Being ambiguous clearly serves their purposes, whatever they are, because clear english and clear processes are things that go through the boardroom and as they are a billion dollar business (when all combined), it must be a plan and not just a crap operation. To employ lawyers and such things to go through things and buy such a portfolio from the Government must need a level of education and experience, and having such clearly crap/ambiguous processes can only be seen as the tactic they have decided to use.

I've seen that guide, & while on p.15 in the how/why will my data be verified section it mentions the fair processing notice included here - I can't find a copy of it in that guide. I think that is what is on p 5-6 of their DAF, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for as I can't read the original they've sent to me. But its over a page of A4 in standard print, so I think I ought to read it :D
Is this any use, it's a clearer copy (pages 3-6) of the DAF - thanks to 2398 for posting up a few days ago. The FPN is on the last two links:

A few more FOI requests on Erudio, to SLC, FOS and FCA - there may be more, I've lost track!

The Erudio deferment should be dealt with by SLC as well since you have split loans.

Most Erudio and SLC staff don't seem to realise that, so they will tell you a load of nonsense if you query it.

Could I ask where this is stated please?

I have been searching and searching as my loans are now split between HSL and erudio. The SLC deferment form has arrived for HSL but I have received nothing from erudio. I was therefore hoping to write to SLC and ask for all of the loans to be deferred by them... willing to try anything to avoid dealing with erudio!

I've been shown separate official confirmations from both SLC and Erudio of that fact. Unfortunately I can't get the people's permissions to posts the letters up.

Fairly sure some others on this thread a way back have had both done by SLC post sale?

I notice that others are suggesting that SLC should deal with joint loans, e.g Thesis and Erudio. Tried to ask SLC but the numbers are automated and there is no option to speak with a person. However, Thesis did confirm to me that SLC won't touch Erudio now so best to make two applications and be sure its deferred. Don't know if that helps anyone?

Is there any chance of something official on the main MSE website about what to do when you've got joint loans? A guide maybe to how to deal with Erudio?

Thanks for the helpful info. I've emailed SLC and Erudio requesting my application be solely processed by SLC. Will wait to see what happens from there. Gutted I completed that Erudio form, but can't grab it back now. I've asked if their team will speak to SLC team and get it sorted out. One things for sure won't be filling out an Erudio form next year.

I've now seen confirmation letters from both SLC and Erudio that SLC should be dealing with cases where loans are held by more than one company.

Thanks Fermi. Do you know how I might be able to contact Student Loans and speak to an actual person for confirmation? The number on SLC deferment form is automated and the one on their website is the same but different number.
    fermi wrote: »
They have a number and email for complaints here.

    http://www.slc.co.uk/contact/making-a-complaint.aspx

Insist that you have it treated as a complaint. Don't take no for an answer.

If they prevaricate or try to deny it is up to them, insist.....
    This is 100percent confirmed.

Although it was nice of the SLC and erudio to make this clear to everyone from the beginning! (sarcastic voice)

Sounds like there has been such an almighty screw up over that, that even most Erudio/SLC/Thesis/Honours staff don't know the correct position yet?

slc told me this in writing.

I can confirm that in your circumstance, we defer all accounts on behalf of Thesis Servicing and Erudio Student Loans.

All other aspects of your loan are administered by the respective company.

When your deferment period ends on date removed 2014, you can submit your forms to the Student Loan Company address below as normal.

Thanks to everyone for helpful info. I've spoken to SLC Complaints today and they were helpful. However, they have confirmed to me it is a separate process for Thesis and Erudio loans. They will only deal with the Thesis loan application for me.

Sorry if this info contradicts what others have confirmed. I know its not good but it does demonstrate we are all being told different info.

I've sent an email asking for clarification in writing if a single deferment process is available to joint loan holders with Erudio. Will update when I hear more.

As said, I don't think even most SLC staff have got the message yet.

One more screw up amongst many.

Erudio replied to my email and they have confirmed that SLC will be dealing with all joint loans and my deferment. Will keep a check on my credit file and make sure Erudio haven't logged my deferment.

The power of complaint! Thanks everyone, together we are stronger.

Ps. Best of luck to all still struggling.

  • Thank you fermi :) I was searching for split loans and should have tried joint loans as well!

I'm going to give it a go and send a covering letter to SLC to state that there is a loan number missing from the form but I would like them to apply the deferment application to all 3 loans. I will come back and let you know what happens....
