I answer all these calls as i just like talking to someone0

I get spates of them; they must just go through lists of numbers, maybe sorted by area code or something.
The last one I said that I would have to refer it to my IT department, and they said "oh" and hung up.
I've wound them up sometimes too, and I give myself bonus points if I manage to get them to swear at me.
The key thing is that they are not getting messages from your computer and indeed they do not not know whether you even have a computer!; I sometimes ask them which computer is sending them messages, as I have several, and that usually catches them out, though the last one came back with "all of them!" when I said which one.0 -
I had a phone call from 00 1 210-249-0540 .
I think I've received a call from them before , however no one answered when I picked up.0 -
I had this last week, as soon as he spoke [indian accent, i could tell it was a call centre from all the noise] he said he wanted to talk about my computer, so i just hung up.0

I once kept one of these on the phone for about half an hour, pretending that I needed them to tell me the most basic things, eg how to plug in my PC, how to turn it on, boot it up etc. I told them that my son was in his fifties and had set up my computer for me. I pretended to be terrified about the "virus" he claimed my PC had. I made myself sound very frail and vulnerable - I was the guy's dream "customer". When they asked me what I could see on my screen, I told them it was a lovely picture of my cat and then rambled on about my cat's name, favourite dinner, games etc (I don't own a cat!).
Eventually, after pretending to type in all their instructions, very slowly and asking them to repeat everything several times, they asked again "What does it say now on your screen?". I changed tone completely and said "It says 'F*** off, Scammer". My (teenage) son was listening in on the other phone and nearly collapsed laughing!. They hung up and never phoned me back
I do know someone who received the same call and gave his credit card number to get the problem fixed though, so it obviously does pay for them. The way I see it is if I keep them busy, they have less time to try to scam someone else, and if I annoy them as well, then that's a bonus!0 -
