As Zag would say, we were promised that in the future there would be 'taste-o-vision' so we wouldn'rt have to suffer the misery of someone posting up something delicious looking and not be able to try it.
I ventured out as far as Wickes for softener salt (they have now 'cut' their prices to a vaguely competitive £8 per bag having increased them from £5 to £10 over the last couple of years - I can't believe there has been a big move in the global salt prices!), I am unable to spend anytime outside otherwise because of the hayfever. Sunday is also homework day, I'm the only one in the house not studying and yet somehow I seem to be the only one doing hoemwork for 4 different people. This afternoon I have written a sonnet on the subject of Bill Shakespeare amongst other things. Also all the domestic stuff of providing 3 meals, changing the beds, cleaning the bathrooms whilst DW has planted and will cut the grass later. WE don't really do mother's day as a protest against the rampant commercialisation....

..
You could bake one.
Fwiw this is a peach chiffon cake, but, tbh, the peach flavour is so faint as to be unnoticeable. ( I tried it before tasteing it with raspberry 'icing' and peach drizzle. Its still nice. Not too sweet. Its got lime in it, and some honey, lots of vanilla, not just 'sugar'. The drizzle taste is perfect, its just lost in the cake. But its perfect with raspberries. The lime has kept it fresh and clean and modern not to 'seventies Melba' and the light hand on sugar / honey means its fruity rather than sweet. Its a very grown up girly cake I think, despite appearance. I like the way it looked like it was sticking its tongue out at me,
Tbh, because I thought it was a flop I didn't bother finishing well. Big mistake, because its a joy. Had I taken more care it would be a cake I'd be proud of.. It looks like 'barbie was angry to day cake' where I went a bit crazy with glitter and stuff on the top:o

It certainly looks yummy to me, lir.
michaels, thank you for reminding me to go and enforce homework here.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I'm pretty sure that was on Tomorrow's World once (or was it the Jetsons) sandwiched between jetpacks powered by snow tiger tears or panda earwax, all restaurants and food shops to be moved onto farmland to save distribution costs, robot servants to help with homework, and underground windfarms that don't blight the landscape.
That cake looks fandabidozi.
DS is off school tomorrow. I've got another week to go.:(There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I remember once, on a different programme, they showed how the different letters of Tomorrow's World were formed for the opening credits. I remember absolutely marvelling at the technological wonder of one letter was bread being filmed baking, and some others were played backwards:o.
This set of titles I think:

So, my nails survived the gardenI just know that they're not going to last until Saturday though. I'm bound do lose one doing something really silly. Kind of forgot that scratched arms were probably not quite the accessory I was looking for to go with my dress, but nevermind. They're not too bad and I'll hopefully be able to distract everyone with pretty nails!
So, the back lawn has been mowed (green bins collected this week). Thought I'd try a bit of de-brambling too. Got a bit carried away, and tricked by the clocks changing, so I came back in 2.5 hours later after very nearly filling the wheelie bin again0 -
Little things please little minds. The company that imports my trampoline for Asda sell spare parts at extortionate prices, one replacement enclosure pole (of 8) is £21, the whole trampoline plus enclosure is only £99. Someone locally was eBaying a whole one (complete except for net) and I just won it for £4.20 so replacement poles galore and I can put the trampoline sans enclosure on freecycle and feel like I am doing a good deed.I think....0

I sent my mother scented narcissi from the Isles of Scilly, which arrived yesterday, and just had a long chat with her.
I got woken up especially early for the treat of Mothering Sunday cuddles, and got a lovely dark brown summer straw hat with pink ribbons, and a card showing a T Rex bloodily devouring some other poor unfortunate dinosaur....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Interesting! Your link led me to this, which I once heard of and wondered what happened to it.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Could you treat yourself to a gel polish over the next few days, Nikkster?
I love the stuff. While I wander around in woolly boots, doozer's coat and unbrushed hair, I have really nicely decorated nails that feel natural and it lasts three weeks. Reminds me that I'm a girl.
I feel bad. They did forget this morning and H was particularly unpleasant and then denied forgetting, which he did but didn't. Within five minutes of arriving home, the gifts appeared. They had been forgotten, left behind here at home. It's the largest haul I think I've received
It still would have been nicer to apologise and explain instead of let me be upset all day.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
