Was this in the original contract? They can't charge it if you weren't given notice of it at that point.

Yeah, the check out fee was in there .... as a hidden/not mentioned fee. They never tell you the fees, you don't see what you're signing until the morning you're signing (when your stuff's sitting in your car in the public car park up the road) ..... so you'll sign anything :)

No. Dangerous things.... knives. I'd not be comfortable even holding a big/sharp kitchen knife for somebody else to use :)

It went like this: Today I bought a veggie slicing machine (mandolin?); Silvercar said she uses a sharp knife; I said I've not got one and it'd have cost me more than the £5 for the slicer to get one even if I'd thought of it.

15 down, none to go! Just need to see the doctor and I'm free of this bloody place.

Glad to hear about the gargle solution - better late than never, I suppose! Here's to rapid healing when it all starts to turn around, and all your doctors' appointments in the next few weeks.
so long as we are all on the same page of just how concerned I am about this.

{{Hugs}} for this and for the effects of the op you mention. I imagine there's a kind of grieving which can take place with acknowledging the impacts which will occur. :(

Be careful with the mandolin. I am more 'respectful' of that than I am any of my knives. I barely use it as I am so clumsy now.

I'm always careful with things; I'm a nightmare.

You can expect a Lidl buying frenzy in the coming months .... now I've got somewhere to actually use the items I've previously just looked at.

Just back from a quick foray .... and bought:
    - two packing boxes
    - a cordless screwdriver (for the flatpack furniture/Ikea shelves I expect to buy)
    - one of those kitchen slicing 'machines' (mandolin?)
    - a shredder, that also shreds cards/CDs/DVDs.

Ikea furniture uses mainly hex headed screws. You'll need some suitable screwdriver bits for your electric screwdriver. Most fairly large sets have the right ones in.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

We have a set of allen keys on a ring. Nothing more annoying than a chair leg wobbling and you can't find the original allen key that was supplied.

Oh, right. I've never been close to an Ikea before so the previous pine shelving I bought just had a small pack of regular screws that needed screwing in!

Oh well.... it'll get some use somewhere.

    Like this: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/30058508/ or http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00111994/

I'll have 2-3 of those..... they're easy to construct, cheap, lightweight, useful everywhere.
