15 down, none to go! Just need to see the doctor and I'm free of this bloody place.
If you want my advice it's don't get cancer. I've said goodbye to the really brave little girl with the brain tumour and wished the bloke with the same name as me well. He has @r $ e cancer so the radiotherapy makes him sit funny.0 -
Opticians fail.
The kids never complained that they couldn't see stuff, so I never got their eyes tested til one of them asked why their friends had eye tests - even the ones that didn't where glasses. I sort of assumed that between health checks at the doctors/ school eye tests/ no complaints of head aches or not being able to see it just didn't happen.
So eventually they had eye tests. Their vision was fine but they are both colour blind. Who would have thought? Specially as DS2 had won art prizes.
DS is as well.
On this website Walter Bodmer gives a Xmas lecture that shows what colourblind people see. You need to register for free.
Sea mammals see one primary colour, land mammals can tell blue from yellow except us fruit-eating vitamin C requiring primates that are trichromats and can tell red from green. dichromats find camouflaged animals more easily. Birds have four types of cones except those pigeons we've just seen on Trev's post who see five so goodness knows what they're all seeing.
In the US they give you a red contact lens for one eye if you're colour blind. I've met several woman (it's 4 in every thousand) who are colour blind. A very few are colour blind in one eye which is why we know what colours they see.15 down, none to go! Just need to see the doctor and I'm free of this bloody place.

Was in a class at uni where we were given the cards but the wrong answer sheet. Got us all a bit bemused until we realised it was most of us and we weren't giving the wrong answers! There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Congrats Gen!! Glad it's all done.
Debussy had !!!! cancer, and died of it during the first world war. I always think it must be bad enough now, but even worse then before all the medical advances that have taken place since. I suppose there's always someone worse off... That's what I tell myself anyway!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

Will delete the one showing OH's face shortly, so don't quote that one....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
