Had the curtains been professionally cleaned before you moved in? Is all of that stuff in your contract?
I did think of taking them to a regular launderette and shoving them in a machine there on a "hand wash" style of wash .....
They're just cheap/cotton-style market-style curtains. At least you'll be free of that kind of stuff in your new gaff!
In the olden days the curtains would be looked at/discovered clean and fine and/or the LL would just toss them in their own machine .... (LL here's abroad nowadays though).
I need to buy an iron - I think Asda do some at £3.25. And I need an ironing board. I could just give them a go myself .. but I think if I did them in a big launderette and dried them immediately in the drier they'd probably need less/no ironing.
All this stuff's easy if it's your stuff and you're setting the standards. With agents one tries to over-compensate for any daftness they'll come up with.0 -
Bet half of what they quote for is unenforceable. And its not like you need a reference.
Deposit should be protected, so you can use their dispute service if they start messing you around.
Still a general faff for somebody who hasn't broken/wrecked/damaged anything... no muck, no stains etc.... but they do put the fear of God into one (or maybe it's just because I read many threads on here) ... maybe it'd all be OK really.... I'm just over-thinking it.
If I did it again I'd have bought my own cheap curtains and just packed theirs away .... didn't have this nonsense when I rented 7 years ago even (through an agent).
This lot's got a nationwide poor reputation ... start of their name sounds like how they behave
Unfortunately we can't choose our LL or our agents... it's all down to the luck of the draw when you need a property in a location at a price.... this was the only one that met the criteria of: Location, affordable, available now.0 -
For is on his way home having seen his father for a second evening.
It seems they have had a good time but also productively broached some difficult subjects this week while having enjoyable time. I'm proud of fir and pleased for them both and tentatively hopeful the seasons change and there could be a time where fences are better mended.0 -

So close, Gen
I've nicely wound myself up reading about green deal home improvements and looking at front doors, so I might manage to stay awake a little longer than usual too.0 -

These people are often recommended, haven't used them myself.
