Exactly. Whilst luck is involved, you can increase your chance of being lucky quite a lot ;) (e.g. by looking around)

I don't like seagulls.... they're flying vermin and they !!!! everywhere. I did have one of those naff 6" high wooden seagull ornaments perched in my last bathroom .... (left it there on purpose) ... but, if I saw another at £2-3 tops I'd get another one.

A bit like this, but no way at that price .... I'd get it, in passing, if stumbled across, but it doesn't feature in a "must have" list.

Completely agree. I'm not a fan of real seagulls. There were a few in my hometown (miles from the sea). They used to sit on the lampposts on the way into town so I'd end up playing dodge the seagull !!!! whilst walking underneath them.

    I like the cushion though.

It'd be better if it were more "embroidered", rather than looking like a photo.

Yep in this country they do. Having the hub in the corner of the country doesn't help. 50 miles from the bottom of a 700 mile long Island's a big detour if you're trying to get from the South Midlands to the mid-South Coast as directly as possible. God knows how you get from Newcastle to Penzance in a hurry.:(

I suppose the rail layout in France is as bad, but at least their trains really move.

Get the direct train from Newcastle to Penzance, perhaps?

I remember seeing one on the board when we were last there! (In Penzance, rather than Newcastle, but I presume it goes both ways).

I also reckon you could change in Birmingham - I've seen trains to Newcastle on boards at Birmingham.

    I'll gather stuff

That's also my plan. Or at least I'm sure it will be my excuse when my house still looks like this in x years time!

In other news, dentist visit completed. Lots and lots of work to do, as expected. On the positive side he seemed like a pretty nice guy. On the negative side, I now have teeth pulling in my future...
