Cheers. I guess some descriptions are "full" and some just say "Voile" "Buy it?"

I think Dunelm is about 8 miles, Ikea is about 20.... in opposite directions, although there is probably a Dunelm closer to Ikea than that which I'd discover if I looked.

Have you sorted out a completion date yet?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Yes .... pretty much the earlier date.... so a week sooner than I'd have picked, but it's all got to the "painful/get it over" stage.

Current status: sitting waiting for the Exch call. Then it's a call to insure it and off to the agents to give in my notice, which is in my bag. I don't want to go and do the notice now as I don't want to be taking calls/dealing with stuff in the street.... especially as I could be anywhere and doing anything, e.g. driving, in traffic, crossing a road, in the agents, in a noisy/busy spot, in a chip shop queue.

NDg, Kermie sounds like a very sweet nickname an conjurs up images. I love the names parents choose to call their children, it's usually something weird and wonderful. My children's nicknames are Crispy and Dilbert.

The Boy was known as Mr Poo when he was a baby. For some reason this song was being played a lot on the radio and TV at the time.

I found myself singing, "Hey there Mr Poo, we're so pleased to be with you" and "Mr Poo Bum, Mr Poo Bum, Mr Poo Bum right". The name stuck. He now isn't sure whether to be pleased or annoyed at being called Mr Poo these days. He is 9 now so I suppose I should stop. I will....once he's older than me.

The light at the end of the tunnel now looks less like a train.

It's usually a bloke with a miner's helmet bringing me more work!

    I've been Money Tipped!
No, just stacking up urls really, for ideas.

Saving all my "finds" in my keep.google.com account for easy access, so when I get to the "I'll buy now" stage I can start from the list of stuff I already found.

Current walls are a sort of cream. I'll only paint them white when they need doing.... "if it ain't broke" and all that; of course I won't know how I feel about that until I'm holding the keys.

I'm really using it as a learning exercise for "what's out there, what's it cost, who does it, what are the names they call things".

IMO white curtains would look fine with cream than cream ones while not sure cream would look so good with your ideal of stark white. Spend once?

Curtains will almost certainly show the ungathered size of 1 and be in a pack of 2 and you will want coverage of at least 1.5 times the length of the pole so the size you mention will be ideal.

Argos sometimes have really cheap Curtains on their clearance. We paid about 6 quid a pair for big one for the rental house.
    I think....

Driving is 2.5 hours, Google's quickest route.
Train is 4 hours and lots of changes.

    Trains suck don't they.

I have a high boredom threshold for train journeys. Fine tuned after a few years of travelling the entire Metropolitan Line to and from work every day. They also have the advantage of not requiring concentration (apart from paying attention to when you need to get on and off the trains).

Also meant to add in response to your post last night re what's on that weekend - there wouldn't be any pressure to find lots of exciting activities to do on my account. A normal weekend for me involves a trip to Lidl, pottering round the garden, not doing various things I'm supposed to be doing, and the NPT.

On the other hand, if there are things you'd like to do/ see, but are reluctant to as you'd be going by yourself - well, you have the offer of accompaniment :)

That sort of stuff is from a different need. I'm working towards things I like, at a certain date. To stumble across curtains that fitted in Argos was luck ... and you didn't have to like them at all.....

When trying to find something specific, within a set timescale, one's unlikely to be lucky.
