Has he investigated the job market for these subjects? I know they're very popular subjects but mainly in sixth forms, which some schools don't have..
I can't say I'm impressed by the way schools prepare students for choosing careers. I've always suspected that in many cases there's precious little advice or guidance being given.
Yes he has....and there are a lot more options for him (including non teaching) with these subjects than with his original one where it really is a tiny pool.
And you are right, the advice does seem to be somewhat lacking in schools! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

When most people were leaving we thought our luck was in and we would get a better view in relative quiet, but the bar upstairs let all the morons in whi had been chanting (audibly) for some time. Security were holding them back while they removed a lot of chairs, it was awful, very sinister, with everyone wearing football kits, draped in flags and pushing hard against security and shouting and swearing. Apparantly two fights had already broken out on the stairs. I demanded that a security guard take us up the fire escape to get out - we'd never have survived going against the tide! They had plenty of fire escapes but being in a basement with that lot would have been my worst nightmare.
Sounds awful. V glad you were able to get the security guard to take you out safely.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

DS1 studied psychology with sociology, he said the teaching options were restrictive because they were both predominantly A level only subjects and schools liked at least a secondary subject that could be taught lower down the school. This is third hand info because it was some of his course mates that looked into teaching, not him. Anyway you are more likely to get a good degree if you enjoy the subject and nothing would be more miserable than studying a subject you don't enjoy.
DS2 is studying psychology. So between them there may be old text books lying around. If you have a list of books that your DS needs, I can look if we have them. Posting them would be expensive, but I could deliver to H. (It is H isn't it?)
Starting to be concerned here. Ordered malaria tabs for DS2 from the Sunday Times recommended online supplier, posted out Thursday and they haven't yet arrived. We need them by Wednesday. It's a shame Lennon wasn't in the squad. I think last night's game would have suited him (if he's in form, which I don't know).
I don't follow the game and didn't recognise many of the players but I stayed up to watch it (DW dozed off halfway through). It was exciting but the third goal happened when I went for a toilet break. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Beckham was a midfielder and very fit. Rooney is a striker who apparently smokes and certainly seems not to look after himself as well as he could.
I didn't know that Rooney smokes. I thought smoking footballers went out c1986. I'm amazed that any pro would do that now in an age of sports science and little incremental differences. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? There are usually photos in the tabloids of him smoking by the pool on his holibobs.0 -

Why bother looking after yourself when you make £15,000,000 a year regardless?0 -
Smoking, drugs, alcohol ..... if you have to do one of them, most people choose booze.... so why is choosing smoking so bad?0

Thanks, they will soon enough I suppose.
Re England/Italy, can't say I'm much of a football fan, but I suppose the saving grace of Scotland rarely qualifying for anything is that we don't get our hopes up very often so less scope for disappointment...“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
