She's had this a long time, but it's flared up. The vet is wondering whether it's the mutt chewing on it, and that's why she has the lampshade on. The lampshade *really* upsets her, though.
I have a real soft spot for animals with lampshades. Or wheels.
I hope she feels better soon.0 -
Agree with rawl plugs.
I still haven't got round to hanging pictures apart from one or two where there happened to be a convenient hook/nail. It's one of the several things that makes me feel that I haven't yet succeeded in making this house into a proper home.
Yes, yes - it was a typo
Lydia - it's where your children (and you) feel at home, no? Pictures on the wall are irrelevant compared to that.0 -

I need compost, & a wardrobe rail.
It begins...
Get used to it!
And don't forget your nectar card.
And to tell nectar that you've moved - they'll send you vouchers for extra points etc.
Enjoy making the house and garden yours0 -

I had a real 'Circle of Life' moment this morning.
On the way to work I stopped off to buy a card. Wasn't too keen on any of the official 'sympathy' cards, so ended up buying a blank card instead. Sent it to family of person who I knew who passed away a couple of weeks ago (via the funeral directors). Didn't really want to post on the facebook page, but wanted to do something.
Popped it into the post bag at work (after attaching a stamp I had paid for myself, of course). Then went sign cards/ give money for a couple of new parents (one imminent, other recent).0 -

I know. Sorry. I got up to three multiquoted messages, including lemonjelly's comment, and replied, and only later saw your comment about the typo.Lydia - it's where your children (and you) feel at home, no? Pictures on the wall are irrelevant compared to that.
Yes. But also no. It is my home. It feels like home. But not a "proper" home. I have not yet achieved a level of sorted-out-ness that makes me feel that things are OK even if not perfect. My standards aren't particularly high, either.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I can understand that. Many is the time I've had to remind my self that if I wasn't living here (and paying for it), I'd be paying to live somewhere else. So although it isn't beautiful and reflective of me etc etc. at the very least it's a means to an end (shelter).
I appreciate you're not just talking about pictures on walls. But honestly, I think you do a fab job of the most important stuff. The rest of it will come. It's the cherry on the cake rather than the cake itself (if that makes any sense).
I'm almost tempted to post a pic of my living room... there are piles of paper everywhere (bills, work and a fair amount of junk that needs sorting out). But whilst I could cope with the embarrassment of posting a pic of my dead plants, that would be a step too far for even me0 -

Thank you. Your encouragement helps - by "your" I mean yours, Nikkster, and that of lots of other NP who've posted encouraging things to me over the years.I'm almost tempted to post a pic of my living room... there are piles of paper everywhere (bills, work and a fair amount of junk that needs sorting out). Tee hee.I will see your piles of paperwork, and raise you the following:
* two enormous packing boxes of random stuff - not because they've never been unpacked, but because they were the handiest place to put the chaos when I couldn't think what else to do with it and didn't want it to stay where DD had left it (ie all over the floor)
* a strip along behind the curtain pole where the painted textured paper has been partially ripped off by the removal of the previous curtain pole
* A collection of random stains on the impractical pale beige carpet, mostly caused either by food or by craft activities, most of which have not had my authorisation but happened anyway.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I'm not falling for it, Lydia. You're not getting a picture of my slobbery
A friend from work has just said she's popping round...I was mowing the lawn as the bin is now empty. So I'm sweaty AND the house is a mess. I've hastily changed back out of my gardening wear into what I was wearing before that!0 -

Quite understand. You're not getting a pic of mine either.
I was talking to a friend the other day about what it's like having a cleaner. I do tidy the worst of it when she's coming, or shut the door to rooms (usually kids' bedrooms etc) where I don't want her to clean, but all the same, she knows a lot more about my slobbery than almost anyone else. I explained to my friend that it's like other kinds of privileged relationship - the bank person gets to know how much money or overdraft one has, the doctor gets to see one without clothes on if necessary, and the cleaner gets to see just how much of a slob one is!Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
