Iceland do some decent quality stir fry meals in a bag.
Someone got me a wok as a moving in gift & I used it last night & it was excellent!
I've never had a wok .... seen photos and always wondered how come they don't fall over, so the other week, when I saw some for sale in a shop, I picked one up to look - and the bottom wasn't rounded like I thought.

I'd use a frying pan .... no point me buying new kit for something when a frying pan's just as good (for the quantities involved).

There's no local Iceland - but they are around - and I do plan to make a special trip to one (special trip = take a cool bag and make a journey that ends at an Iceland so I can come straight home). There are three at 6-8 miles away.

Yes, she has a bad paw. The vet thinks it's because the mutt chews on her own toes, so now mutt is wearing a lampshade to stop that.

I'm being a bit mean because I didn't choose the mutt. It's not really my dog, you see. DW does not even like dogs, and it just feels like we've drifted into taking on this old dog.

Well done for taking responsibility. Not all inheritances are welcome. Looking on the bright side, if you are going to have the dog you might as well embrace it and get as much enjoyment/exercise/company from it as you can.

I'm still finding Rik Mayalls passing a shock btw. 56!

Me too ... once a parent dies, you're all more aware of death around you - and once over 50, you're all more aware of how scarily close to one's own age the dying seem to be!

Yes, I meant rawl plugs. There was an invisible 'l' in there. I didn't mean uncooked plugs (I'm not quite that much of a DIY novice, and usually I can scrape up some common sense).
Actually ... I bet you can use some raw pasta as rawl plugs, making those raw plugs.

DIY programme last night - woman ...

Was at the same time as mad as a box of frogs ... and yet working within her capabilities. If glue works, why not use it. Although her "finishing techniques" needed brushing up.

The mad vinyl flooring woman is just like my old mate Jess.... except Jess' flat always had 6 cats and at least 1 Rottweiler in it....

When I viewed the house there were some shelves up .... I don't know if they're staying, but I must admit to being a bit excited at the potential for owning my first shelves :)

No. I go in to the hospital for treatment and go in to work afterwards. I simply don't have the sick leave left to do anything else and I need to keep the money coming in. My boss kept telling me how lucky I am to have sick pay at all on Friday.

    .

:mad:That sounds absolutely sh!te. How effective can you be? Your boss should be looking for you to work at home, and finding ways to ease the burden. It is very worrying going through what you are going through, and being worried about protecting income only makes it more difficult. I hope the stupid g!t never finds himself in the same position. Send me his address and I will post him a dictionary where he will find I have underlined the word empathy. Does he not know that it has a huge payback to do the right thing:mad:

As the treatment progresses and effects are cumulative, how will you manage if you need a few days off at the end? Can you budget to be short of a few days pay? You need to put yourself first...just a little bit.

I've never used sick leave ..... I feel I've been a fool all these years really :)

I should have been "milking" it for 1-2 days/year... even as unpaid leave.

    I have.

Four months in 2003 then a phased return to fulltime work.
Two months in 2007. If I have surgery later this year I will be off for up to 12 weeks (a lot less I hope).

Several weeks across 2010 - 2013 including being excluded for a couple of weeks due to highly infectious nature of one bug.

I get full pay for six months, then half pay for six months.

Definitely would not take time off if I did not need it. We have very good Occ health follow up to get people back to work and manage repeat short term absence.

I caught up a bit yesterday and tried a bit more today,b ut after a week, it ain't easy.

I was wondering where lir was - is her health OK/

LJ, you are talking as if you have lived there for years:D.

Gen, I hope the treatment is going well. Edit to say that I agree with Spirit, you need time to recover.

I had a lovely time in Jersey, friends came over for four days and then on the 5th, I scattered Mr Bugs at St Brelades early in the morning. We rented a beautiful cottage in the centre of the island, would have loved to know what the main house looked like. the gardens were fabulous as well, but having two gardners, three days a week, probably acccounts for that!

    Tonight, I'm off to homebase.
    I need compost, & a wardrobe rail.

    It begins...
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

    Aww that's lovely.
At some future point I'll be having to investigate an ashes burial on the island .... not investigated it so far as there was no immediate need and it's all so awkward to discuss and decide... there's time yet. I don't think a scattering's possible due to religion (Catholic) - I think you can cremate, but not scatter.
