It feels like the hottest day of the year here... and muggy, too.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Also, just out of interest, what is the charge on the Aus super? I think that my pension charges are 1.5% on shares (HSBC), but just trying to get a rough idea of how this one works.
I get to pay life insurance and income insurance via my super so I can pay for it out of very lightly taxed income. Add to that the fact that I am employed by an insurance company I get a great deal.
From memory I pay about 40bps on my investments through my super plus a little for the insurance. My employer puts in 12% of my income each year into my super scheme. I pay costs and insurances out of that. They do not match any extra I put in though.
1.5% is taking the p155. Vanguard will sell you a tracker on the S&P 500 for 7bps (0.07%).0 -

Not sure how I'll end up getting broadband available when I move .... not sure how all that "moving/changing numbers" works really
I've a number here and I think they have Sky there. Also, exchange is a different STD Code. So no idea how it works out.... there's a slim chance it doesn't even have a phone line (which hadn't occurred to me until this minute!). I suspect phone line might have got a mention on the F&F forms/paperwork.... all those tick boxes.PasturesNew wrote: »I didn't omit to comment because I didn't see the question, or didn't care .... it's just I'm not really what you'd call an Interior Designer
I'm the sort of person that wouldn't have bought the poster in the first place, in order to avoid this type of issue (and further spend).
For me, it wouldn't just be the poster.... then the frame.... I'm also "Handy Challenged" so wouldn't be able to get it safely onto the wall, requiring "a little man" to be employed at some point to put up a hook.PasturesNew wrote: »As (Ye Olde Residente Spinster) a renter for the past 7 years or so.... However, I believe it's an activity exclusively undertaken by homeowners.... an outside activity - and needs lots of gin. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

It sounds a lot more simple than the UK system IMO.
Didn't want to seem intrusive, just interested in how things work in other countries💙💛 💔0 -
Bluetack + Poster = stuck to wall. Simples.
Or am I missing something in the 'Interior decorator' field. Must admit, I probably aren't the person to ask an 'interior decorating' question to since my ambition in life is to have enough money to hire people to do that sort of thing for me. And prior to that point I just don't bother...“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Are you enjoying your new pad? Sounds like it!
It's actually a little scary how easily I've settled. It helps that there are no "big jobs" (eg windows) that need doing. Most jobs are pottering about type jobs. There's a lot of them though!:o
I am really liking getting to put music on a lot.:TIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

The premises used to be a chinese, wish it still was (mind you, chinese are now prohibitively expensive aren't they!!). A chinese takeaway used to be a fairly affordable treat.... now a simple S/S Chicken Balls and Egg Fried Rice is £8-9.
Pub meals suck if you're dining alone. And the cheaper ones do "buy 1 get 1 free", or "2 meals for £5" which are useless offers.
Someone got me a wok as a moving in gift & I used it last night & it was excellent! Thanks for pointing it out - I can pick up some tips
Question: You don't need rawplugs to hang up a photo do you?!
The answer is, it depends on how big/heavy the picture is.In fairness, I don't have any bits yet
That's what I started doing. Then a friend visited who pointed out that they are MY walls and therefore I can put hooks wherever I like.
I've put up 3 pictures in the second bedroom. The other 3 pics I've put up in other rooms went onto existing holes. My employer carries some sort of insurance that pays two thirds salary if long term sick and they just pay normally for.the odd day, not sure how many odd days would trigger anything different, I think for absences more than 3 days we are supposed to get gp sign off.
My pension is a company scheme with Scottish widows who I am sure over charge but at least I am in their International Fund that I hope has outperformed the other option of uk footsie even with sterling appreciation.
And talking of mystery absences any word from Lir?I think....0
