Just a S/S chicken and rice is already halved and fridged. £20 would mean buying 2.5x as much and fridging most of it. It'd not be enjoyable or a reasonable use of the money.

You really, really shouldn't reheat rice.

It's fine if you do it right. Not all rice contains the bacteria - and it's essential that (in case it does) you cool/chill and fridge the rice ASAP, within one hour .... then, to reheat, you make sure it's super hot. The problem comes if the rice has the bacteria .... and is left out for some hours at room temperature and/or then not reheated properly.

Every time I make rice, I make enough for 2 - and nuke it the next day. It doesn't keep that well in the fridge though ... left for 3+ days and it does grow mould :) For that reason I will only EVER refrigerate cold rice until the next day.

I will reheat rice once, the day after I've made it. After that it's in the bin or the dog.

I've got Wed and Thurs this week then a full 5 days next week. Finishes up the week after that.

We prefer noodles to rice, so that's not relevant in our case, but I wouldn't reheat if we did eat it.

I think food comes down to personal choice, if I'm honest. I'm fine with reheated takeaway, but I know some that wouldn't be.

Not that I eat takeaways often now, I still prefer to cook from scratch, but working 4am to (in some cases) 8pm, that's not always possible.

My preferred chinese would be some egg fried rice AND a plain chow mein .... but I have to choose one only ... so I tend to choose the rice as it's better with the S/S sauce than chow mein.

I don't like cooking, can cook, just not motivated .... it's also hampered by equipment a lot of the time (e.g. not had any pans for over 2 years, will get some once I'm in the house).

I do plan to make my own S/S chicken rice/noodles once I get the house, but it's quite a logistical challenge, and a heap of mucky washing up. "For one" sometimes it's just not an enjoyable experience at all..... and it's easy to get food overload.

The process starts with buying things you never normally buy, some fresh, some not .... then using them to make this dish and then having to find other ways to use up the remaining ingredients at some point in the next day/week/year depending what it is.

Motivation's the big thing..... if you only ever cook for yourself, and it creates a lot of washing up ... then there's no "joy" in doing it at all.... and if you go through all that and it "doesn't taste nice" or "doesn't taste right" then you're really pee'd off and you still have to eat it all, no matter how bad it is, as it's cost time/money to get that far. And even if it's nice.... it's wolfed down in 4 minutes flat and you're just left with the washing up.....

Are you off work for this treat, at least?

And if so do they leave you in peace? Or are you still getting work emails?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

No. I go in to the hospital for treatment and go in to work afterwards. I simply don't have the sick leave left to do anything else and I need to keep the money coming in. My boss kept telling me how lucky I am to have sick pay at all on Friday.

Mrs Generali had a weird interview over the weekend. It was via webcam and a question would appear on the computer screen and she'd have 1-3 minutes to answer it. There was no conversation. I love the C21st but it is a very odd place to be sometimes.

I interviewed over Skype before now, but I'd never conduct an interview like that, far too impersonal IMO.

The world is a strange place......

I don't think you need to give any. One of the hedge funds I worked for, run by a couple of absolute idiots who failed massively and spectacularly, didn't pay sick pay. They just gave SSP.

I'm on full whack. I'd best not get sick again this year though.
