I have enough energy to be annoyed is all.
Good good
It'd be nice if you could enjoy the energy rather than it being used in this way. But good all the same.0 -

We'll, exactly.
I'd quite like to dead head the roses, and thought that yesterday too. Its pouring, but its nice light 'pottering' sort of work that's not to
O taxing but is not 'nothing'.0 -

I think I'm going to have to bite bullet and change doctors. I have been really unwilling to do this as my file is so complicated. Choice is Limited but I DO feel well enough to look into it.
The sad thing is, my practise has a little village practise that is walkable too in next village, and while I haven't walked it
. I like that that option is there if/when I surrender my driving licence.
I actually am not sure what to do. Hmmm.
Anyway, today what I have to do is try and get one of those emergency released appointments at one I guess.
That's a shame but I understand. Do you have an obvious choice alternative practice? Could res p drive you there if you lost licence? Is alternative close enough that you could get there with a mobility scooter if you lost car? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

It is pouring here too. Miserable day. We were planning to go to Brighton Sat when weather is better, but there are no through trains running due to engineering works. It's crazy isn't it.... I thought the Govt had picked up on this craziness and said it must stop about 2-3 years ago.lostinrates wrote: »Reception says she cannot physically book appointments because the system will not release these ones till one.
I wanted to see a Dr once and you had to phone when the surgery opened, to make an appointment. I decided to "take no chances" and I parked up outside at 1 minute to that time and sat there dialling, dialling, dialling, dialling - always the engaged tone. So then I walked in and they made me an appointment for 20 minutes' time - the people "on the phones" I could see behind the reception desk.... but as everybody was dialling in it was hit and miss if you managed to get it to ring or got the engaged tone.
You could try going to the surgery and standing there/in their reception at 1 ...... but when you're not well that's probably not even vaguely feasible. Make that phone call while standing at their reception desk... double chance of getting in.0 -

No obvious alternative choice.
Some people use one a couple of villages away, but......a really good uni friends dad was the GP there and locus there and at one other I'd be interested in when he finally retires ( though that one is a drive away and I am outside area I think I could argue strongly) and I am afraid that is not an acceptable situation for me.
The ones in county town are difficult. There are couple, with limited parking, whic is not workable, and one which is poorly thought of from talking around. My hairdresser likes his GP so I think I'll ask him her name and which practise she is at.
Alternatively I might see if anyone in Bertie's town ( wonder how Bertie is) might take me on and what those practises are like.
IME there are gp's who really like my file because its kinda interesting....and others who don't because its complicated . DH feels this is what separates a good doctor from a bad one, because the former type is someone who wants to get their teeth into it, whether its in a way I like or not) and the latter is one who sees it as complicated, expensive and too much trouble. I think that's a bit unfair because I really do think that the NHs really should only be expected to patch us up in the cheapest way really. Its just that when the system was conceived there was access to viable alternative, and now there really isn't.
There is a bit of a twist and I am not sure how I feel about this and it doesn't reflect very well on me so I have been sitting on it. Maybe its a good time to get the advice of wiser people.
FIL has friends who are very highly esteemed US doctors. '. I don't know how and I am somewhat uncomfortable that they seem to have worked out who I am relating to a paper written about my case and some one else's similar situation some years ago now. Doesn't cover any of the new stuff.
Fil, with whom my relations are fine, full of respect and cordiality ( so long as I don't actually have to deal wth him:o) phoned to say they are in London next month and have expressed desire to meet me and perhaps offer a medical opinion.
I don't discuss health with family really. So it feels like quite an invasion of privacy. But I recognise its motivated by good will and kindness. I cannot help feeling it will make me beholden in a way I feel uncomfortable being, but equally, seems stupid to cut my nose of to spite face ( one of these two at least is on some lust of a top twenty doctor in states).
They won't be able to help much of course, because it cannot fly out there ( though might be able to after the lumbar puncture :j:j) so I could actually have any surgery there after that feasibly if that worked and I liked them.
ATM I feel I have a lot to weigh up and I'm struggling. DH and I put a lot of emphasis on access to right people so I am surprised to learn my pride is still so significant that my gut reaction is, 'how kind, but, no thanks'. Also, if I don't choose to accept medical opinion, like the lumbar puncture incident two years ago
could it seriously impact on fragile family relationships? I don't know these people but they are close friends of fil and smil, how confidential would they really be, I don't want pity, for example.
Its a lot to think about. And it's beyond first world problem, Its the kind of opportunity I feel in many respects I should be 'killing' for.0 -
Well I had a chat yesterday with the guy I know who is standing for UKIP next year as an MP. It was very interesting. He's from a minority, so is very worried by what is going on in France. His central premise is that the UK should have the authority to govern itself and that if the EU had remained the Common Market he'd have no problem with it.
In terms of non EU policies, they were more along the lines of old school conservatives... return to grammar schools, less onerous rules for small business, etc. It was interesting and to give the guy his due he's been doing his homework. He still knows I won't vote for him though! Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Thanks.
I think this is the plan. I won't call, I'll just be there at the desk at ten to one, good plan.
:T
Its stupid. I feel bad I am taking an appointment someone else probably needs more when I could have had a phone call, but...hey oh, I need pills and my records updated and probably should get checked out while there so...tough.0 -
lir, apologies I cross posted.
With regard to fil's offer, if he wasn't involved, would you be saying yes and could it get you further with your prognosis? If so what's the worst that could happen. He may have shared concerns about your health but won't they be bound from reciprocating by Hippocratic oath?
It is good to have enthusiasm on your side, it's what you need on a day to day basis, but if I had a chance at meeting a world leading expert in the field I'd jump at it.
Also don't forget you can get the QM 2 to the States if needs be.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Pah - not conte t with just stealing our manager you are now coveting half the teamTuesday is the start of 15 days of radiotherapy. Then I go for a PET scan in mid-July to see if I'm currently clear.
We'll see how he goes. I'm worried he's going to try to play a high line with Dawson which simply won't work.
Hoping he'll bring in a left back and a centre back or 2. Dawson is too slow and keeps getting caught out of position which is odd because his positional play used to be amazing.
'Broadway' Danny Rose just isn't a Premiership left back at the moment. It might be worth pushing him forward as we did with Bale. He started off as left back and 'Arry used to play him there occasionally.
Lir if you switch to a private gp does that then prevent you using the NHS for the rest of your care? I completely understand your dilemma re the family connection specialist and am not sure what I would do in the situation.I think....0
