Lily brings me out in a migraine every single time.

Moan 1 - working out how to fool an automatic warning generator that a screenshot recorded at 95dpi (duh, because that's what screens are displayed in) is a 300 dpi image has taken me an hour.

Moan 2 - Families. Can't hear anything right at the moment because of the 300 decibel rage/frustration explosion about something someone else said to someone that isn't me about something that I honestly don't care that much about :) . Just had to listen to it, and wait until the Ragesplosion blew itself out.

Edit: I think I have the 300 dpi thing worked out but I won't know until I see the actual result off line.

From reading the housing board, all the tenant can require is that you act in the same sort of way they would act if owner occupier, so if it takes 2 weeks it takes 2 weeks. They have hot water. It is only a dishwasher. I'm guilty of the same, got an oven repaired that should have been replaced but tenant wanted something done quickly.

The annoying thing, as a tenant, is that these things are "done to you", the LL and engineer arrange a time and you're told. Home owners get the choice of who does the work, when they do the work.... it's that loss of control that's freaky. You don't get chance to be part of the conversation that agrees the time, don't get to ask how long it'll take etc... it's just "done to you".

    Or with a silver lining...

These things are done 'for you' ;). I'd be telling them when access was NOT convenient but remaining flexible if I wanted the job done at soonest opportunity.

I would have waited two weeks for a dishwasher as a long term tennant, in a corporate let or holiday let I think it would have been unreasonable as part of what you pay for is everything working and max convenience. Longterm it might have been cheaper to offer them a small sum back on the month for the inconvenience if you felt you Had to be kind.

When you're having the conversation with the engineer, you can choose though... when it's done to you you've no idea how long it'll take .... and you've up to the minute information on your diary..... so you can end up discussing 2-3 times/dates to come up with the one that fits into your schedule best as you know things will be right now .... giving somebody else dates/times when it's not convenient is limiting.

If I were to give a time/date now I could say "any time next week", unsure when the conversation will be had and when I'll know.... in the meantime that means I am then unable to schedule other things in and around next week until I know.

What I find is that I've nothing going on, then suddenly two things clash when I've not been in control of them....

It's also possible the LL conversation with the engineer says "I'll come and have a look, strip it down.... but if I can't fix it we'll have to see ...." and LL might say "OK, do that, then let me know so I can decide if I'm buying another 2nd hand one, or a new one".

LL phones tenant and says "he's coming on....".
Tenant hears: "It'll be fixed on...."

So when he turns up, fiddles, strips it apart, leaves it like that and goes .... tenant's not been part of the conversation that meant this might happen and is then all at sea....

In the past some times landlords have given me the phone number of people to sort out a convenient time if I have said I want to be there or 'I'm happy to let them in' :). Making things convenient for everyone is always the wining argument.

Now with email everything's easier, when we have multiple people meeting here for example, its arranged by email at least partly, so everyone can be on board with dates. Usually I was happy for ll to let people in when I wasn't there BY prior agreement.

    That's all done then.

They lay me down on a hard plastic bed. Then 2 pretty nurses (one very) held me down and got a sheet of hot, perforated plastic.

They put the plastic over my face and riveted it to the bed to make a mask that holds my head still.

Slightly erotically, one of the nurses, kept gently rubbing my arm as they did this. It was slightly alarming actually although not unpleasant.

So 3 weeks of radiotherapy starting on 3rd June.

Just in time for the world cup.
    Sorted. Session, home, tv, footy.

I recall my friend had the same experience (except the foxy nurses by the sound of it). The mask is to ensure the radio waves are accurately targetted. Hence the need to make sure you stay very still & the fitting is right.

Happy to hear you do composting, best not to compost potato peelings as they can grow volunteer spuds... Can be a problem if you're in an area affected by blight. And NEVER put tomato seedie rubbish in - you'll have more tomato plants than you can cope with all over garden when you spread the compost! :rotfl: I'm sure you prob know all this already, but it might be useful for somebody else who is perusing this thread. ;)
Found the tomato thing out last year, when I used the compost from the composter!
Had to give away about 30 tomato plants!

On the voting thing, I came up as lib dem, then green, then labour.
    I voted last night.
The EU paper was a bit ridiculous! For Europe I had a ballot paper made by Andrex and inscribed with virtually every extremist political view point I have ever seen!

Gen, its odd. I was talking to Mater earlier who was saying it felt like this before the war in Germany.

I find this odd as she's not been to Germany that I know of, and she would have been far too immature to know what the political mood was then were she there at the time. ( she wasn't in Europe )

But it is really odd. Driving yo hospital yesterday, a good long drive across the corners of three counties, the number of ukip adverts on private land was what hit me most.

Honestly, were I going to vote ukip, I'm not sure I'd be boasting about it, its like putting a sign at the end of the drive saying. 'Ok, ok, I not only buy it but I LOVE the daily mail' or ' I not only legally avoid taxes but I do it while laughing at you all, in ever more creative ways'

Apologies to ukip voters. Its not actually forage, its the spotty youths and slimy wet mouthed greasy people that should hint that Should you like the policies the effecting of them is going to be a challenge, Strictly IMO of course.
I cannot fathom why anyone would vote for UKIP in a local election. I can just about understand, but not agree with, voting for them in the European elections - after all, their case in that respect is very clear, so if you can look past their awful attendance record, very dubious voting record, dodgy unaudited expense claims, various character flaws and rampant xenophobia, if on balance you want the UK to leave the EU then voting for them makes some sense. But in local elections? To run your council? They've been on a Trappist monk vow of revealing exactly no domestic policy for this whole campaign. Congratulations, you have voted someone in who refuses to tell you what they plan to do. What a good idea that is.

I che k with tenant who is sahm that she is happy for me to give the number to the repair person and have them contact her to arrange a suitable time. When the washing machine broke I got email on Saturday and brand new higher spec machine was fitted by 11 on Tuesday which I thought was pretty good going.

Part of reason for not replacing dishwasher before was because their is no plan to rent for years, only until planning permission is granted and profit made....
    I think....
