Well I managed to remember to vote for my Green candidates in both ballots.

Russia doesn't care what the UK thinks of its policies. Let alone what charles thinks.
China is the biggest problem the world faces today. A regime than needs to grow at 8% or face revolution... and which can't continue to grow like that forever. At some point economic reality will force them to go to war.
The course I'm doing on globalisation makes the point that if you can grow a middle class, you get a group of reasonably aspirational people who want democracy and don't have extreme views. There's another argument by some (though this course disagrees) that in moving towards a developed country you have to go through a stage of more inequality. The issue with China, per the course, is at people are no longer starving, but it's failing to develop a proportionate middle class.
Clearly there is a middle class developing, but it is disproportionately small given the growth of the very rich. Which may be why those very rich are so keen to invest outside of the country. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? There's a Waitrose and loads of cycling shops. Spotted Catherine Tate and Andrew Marr there. I don't know whether that's an improvement on North Sheen which had a Sainsbury's and a Homebase plus Rob Brydon and Clare Balding.0 -
Not wanting to tout a UKIP line in any way but it worries me that the media are all about 'what tonight's results might mean for the general election - the big one'. it is disappointing that the UK don't think more about who they send to make decisions on our behalf to a legislature that arguably have just as much influence over UK laws a nd policies as those in Westminster.
In other news the dishwasher has stopped working in the rented house again grr.I think....0 -
The weather woke me up at about half three. The wind was knocking my open window about on its latch very noisily. I hadn't closed the curtains and the light was odd, so got up, looked out and there was a fire at the bottom of the big hill and blue lights heading towards it from all directions. Didn't look huge. But its hard to tell from this distance. Took me a while to realise it was fire tbh.
Hope no one was hurt.0 -
Lydia..go to bed.
I will go too. I needed to come on here to unwind. I have been off today but have worked for 11.5 hours all told. Finished my last report at 01.30 and emailed it in to my PA.
Not an especially happy bunny as I am working far more than I want to, or am contracted to.
Doing more than full time at present which does not make sense as I am only paid to work 3 days week.
Still it is less than when I worked full time. Hoping this is just a patch of madness.
Thanks Spirit.
Have you an actual reasons for believing that this is just a patch of madness, or is it just wishful thinking that it might be?
Please don't let them make you work so hard that you damage yourself.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I've been following the results today on the Guardian and Torygraph websites. It seems likely that UKIP have done extremely well in the Euros. That's the trouble with democracy, people will insist on voting for the wrong party.
I'm amazed your dishwasher can keep going wrong TBH, there's nothing to them. If you can use a multimeter it's easy enough to find out what was wrong.0 -

Rob Brydon and Clare Balding for me.0 -

I would always keep my dishwasher topped up with salt and rinse aid, I wonder if tenants do the same?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Unfortunately it appears that it is not just Euro-sceptic Tory's letting Dave know what they think with a protest vote anymore. UKIP appear to be gaining support from other voters, even Labour one's in areas that were not their strongholds previously.
When Basildon man becomes UKIP man we should start worrying.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0
