I used to deal with a haulier from Aberdeen, most of the conversation was spent with me suggesting that he spoke English - it was an in-joke between us, he just used to like to wind me up.PasturesNew wrote: »Anybody want to hire a G+ expert ... to er ... do G+y stuff ... for all that Internet marketing malarky that nobody else "gets"?
I think I don't 'get' it, because I haven't got a clue what G+ is.....
Gen, good to hear that you are feeling chipper after the op - hope you can relax a bit now and that it doesn't hurt too much.0 -
Out of surgery and feeling pretty good. I'm quite woozy and I have a funny feeling that my neck is going to hurt a lot when the lical wears off (I had local and general anaesthetic). I've been prescribed panaforte, a strongish codeine based pain killer.
Gen, having used this pain killer myself, I would suggest you eat plenty of roughage (IYKWIM).In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
This is the email I sent to my colleagues at work. I am getting really tired now so, while I've tried to answer everyone individually so far, I will try to send more general stuff for the next few days:Hi All,
I had my operation today and, as far as I can tell, my parotid gland and possibly something next to it has been 'excised' (taken out I guess).
The whole thing was done under general anesthetic. The worst case scenario was that my facial nerve could be severed (no more smiling for example) but it seems that they missed that, not that I've been a barrel of laughs this afternoon so I am yet to test it properly.
I was told that there was a good chance that I'd be in a lot of pain afterwards. No pain so far but they seem to have given me a massive amount of local as 7 hours later it's only just started wearing off. They've given me codeine which should take care of most of that and who knows, perhaps my superpower is not to feel pain.
Hope to see you Thursday. I am quite amazed at how beaten up I feel though.
I've been told I'll get the results of the PET scan on Thursday. Unfortunately they didn't say which one and I was too woozy to ask which one.
I don't know how much a parotid gland weighs but on the plus side I will have lost some weight!
All the best,
Generali

Good luck Gen, glad to hear you are out and well and can still smile. Enjoy your lay on the sofa and hopefully some pampering.
Both DH and I find having some spare Op Site dressings in for showers, washing hair etc in the following days.

PET scans are pretty quick for results, I think. Some I reckon this Thursday, Gen.
Lots of love, and hope it's not uncomfortable when the dope wears off!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

My throat hurts where they had a breathing tube down it and I am absolutely bloody starving.
All in all I'm pretty happy. Looking forward to a snooze on the sofa this evening.
Glad the op is over for you. Hope the pain is controlled.
I googled (I know it is not allowed.) According to wiki "Eighty to eighty-five percent of tumors of the parotid gland are benign" here's hoping.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Had a ticket for some comedy tonight. Was very tempted not to venture out, but glad I did as person was even funnier than they are on TV
Glad you enjoyed it. Who did you see?

Richer Sounds has been highly spoken of both here, & also another forum I go on. As a result, I'm planning a trip to their brum store to experiment.

We've bought quite a lot from Richer Sounds jelly and always been happy. They employ total nerds who know what they are talking about and are happy to give advice. Some of the stuff that they sell is from other companies owned by Richer himself, but it is good quality too. Check out their home cinema system by Cambridge Audio while you are there if it is set up in one of their booths. My bil has the Bose system, the CA is substantially cheaper and sounds better. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
