SE25 has always had serious issues - deprived for as long as I can remember, but the shootings hadn't spread that far when we left London, but isn't SE19 still fast asleep? It has no train station, being up the big hill, which makes me think it bypassed the spread of 'inner city' malice that along the train lines that sandwich it out to Croydon.
I still thought Crystal Palace felt the same when I was there last year. Stuff changes, I guess, but it still felt a little quiet and left behind.
Those yellow incident boards. Don't see them out here!
Crystal Palace has the taint of the area still or at least did when I was last there.
It's not as bad as the Norwoods etc. That I'll grant you.0 -

I'm thinking the problems on the Auckland/Cypress road. Where the postcodes split. It was north/south of the mini roundabout.
I wasnt there for around 18 months, but I wouldn't have thought this has changed. Luckily, we were at the top of the hill, although couldn't get in from the top (don't want to mention exactly where, but if you know the area, you'll know where the unit was)

Our previous shortlist - Daniel, David, Benjamin and Jonathan - all ruled out for good by OH apart from Daniel which is a cautious "maybe" (don't imagine enthusiasm, here).
OH had a burst of ideas this evening, though - Seth, Aaron, and Elijah.
What do NP think? Honest opinions welcome even if they are, "are you insane?!"
One of our best friends is a Seth. He is a super caring but very funny man, so pretty high in my estimation. All of those are good, solid reliable names. I like that Seth is unusual.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I lived in West Norwood for a while. Hellhole doesn't begin to describe it. What a dump.
Good cheap fishmongers though and a really good old fashioned butchers shop.0 -
Thanks....well if anyone knows anything about Hyperthyroidism or Graves disease....or can put up with me

I will be referred to an Endrocrinologist for treatment with worse case scenario, surgery on my neck.
I shouldn't be reading up on it as i've read really bad cases may be loss of sight and amputations.
A lot to catch up on - may have to leave lots of posts until tomorrow - but wanted to reply quickly to this. I have a friend who had hyperthyroidism. It wasn't pretty at the time, but she ended up having the surgery, which was completely straightforward and successful, and she's been totally fine for years since. So there are certainly people for whom this is very treatable.
Not that that stops it being scary and distressing. Have a dodgy hug, if you accept such things from pixels you've only just met: :grouphug:
Hope you find some RL people to give you proper hugs and be a bit more sensitive and supportive than your idiot boss.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I can only remember that area 20 years ago and never had any real reason to go down that bit, apart from when I shared a flat on Lancaster Road, very briefly. It was really depressing, so I went back to Streatham. I guess that says something.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I had to reverse my car quite quickly from an enraged woman who tried to attack me/my car on the border with Dulwich. I've never seen anyone behave like that before, or since. I think she might have tried to kill me, given the opportunity.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Despite the frustration, this is all very positive LIR!:)lostinrates wrote: »I feel really frustrated today about house again. I have been spending some of my day reading an installation guide for something and feeling disappointed. I was going to go out today but this is more pressing ATM. Sigh. I need to be like this all the time! I told people today what I wanted because I was 'here' and able to think about wider scope.
Fir is coming home tonight. His office are for some reason being great about flexibility. DH sat at spoke with a partner a couple of weeks ago about this years tests and the potential surgery if they are 'useful' and the partner was just 'you do what you gotta do' and agreed DH should be with me, DH raised that he'd like tomorrow working from home at very short notice because we only knew this week. with those he is currently working with and the one dissenter was shut down by the partner today.
Sea change? Hope so.It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
