Fir is coming home tonight. His office are for some reason being great about flexibility. DH sat at spoke with a partner a couple of weeks ago about this years tests and the potential surgery if they are 'useful' and the partner was just 'you do what you gotta do' and agreed DH should be with me, DH raised that he'd like tomorrow working from home at very short notice because we only knew this week. with those he is currently working with and the one dissenter was shut down by the partner today.
Sea change? Hope so.
Very pleased for you and for FIR.
In his workplace the past accounts of controlling parent/child behaviour was truly the stuff of dinosaurs.
This new way of doing things should be better for everyone.0 -
I like the security of exchanging, so that no-one has the opportunity to gazump or gazunder.
I agree with this.
In 1994 during a housing slump the people we were buying from asked us for an extra £5K and for the people they were buying from to drop £5K in a nasty last minute wheeze.
We went with it, it had taken us 3 years to sell our house and we could not risk the lower chain:(0 -
Names list for Aelthebald - I can see the poor little sod actually ending up being called Aelthelbald at this rate!
Our previous shortlist - Daniel, David, Benjamin and Jonathan - all ruled out for good by OH apart from Daniel which is a cautious "maybe" (don't imagine enthusiasm, here).
OH had a burst of ideas this evening, though - Seth, Aaron, and Elijah.
What do NP think? Honest opinions welcome even if they are, "are you insane?!"...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Must be getting closer
I like all of those names, except one.
Will delete: I associate ... with trouble... (although I've also met some perfectly pleasant ones too)0 -

Seth, Aaron, and Elijah.
On paper they look good with your OHs surname.
Just spoke them aloud with your OHs surname. Not sure if the first vowel is as in opal, or , orange.
Aaron ran into the surname and to my ears sounded comical. Sounded better if shortened to Ron.
Seth, Benjamin, David, Jonathon and Daniel I like. Sound good as a child and as a man.
Elijah sets the child up for hating old macdonald as a nursery rhyme. Eli, Eli, O .0 -
It's "O" as in "Orange" (although only in the sense of the first two letters)...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Every Daniel I know was terribly naughty as a child.
David I like. Benjamin is OK but will undoubtedly be shortened to Ben. Jonathan is good, but again will become a John, or even a JonO if the surname is an "O".
Seth and Elijah are too biblical for me.
Ideally you don't want the same initial as OH or they will both be grabbing for post arriving to Mr X Orange.
Aaron is good, but will you pronounce it air-on or a-ron?
(Elijah will get a lot of wine at passover- get OH to explain that)I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
