I our house that would be got a double bed to replace a single so we could hve a bigger pile of waiting to be ironed clothes...I once (too many years ago now to admit to
) couldn't face the ironing so went out and bought a double bed to replace the cast-off single bed I was then sleeping on.
.I seem to remember some NP offering to help me next time DD needed fancy dress. Well... her class will be taking assembly on the Friday morning just before half term (ie the Friday before the bank holiday at the end of May) on something to do with Greek myths. She has been cast as Aphrodite.
Suggestions anyone? Please?
White sheet and safety pins? When DD was greek (or was it roman?) recently we did a white pillow case cut with two arm holesand a head hole with a belt = tunicI think....0 -

Really? Not everybody has [a] friends people who'd drop round unannounced that couldn't stand or be sent packing [c] people sitting down and drinking wine [d] space for such a thing.
It annoys me when people assume that everybody's "just like them". "We all ..... we all have ..... " etc.
Well, I have friends that drop round. They can be sent packing, but often I rather have their company for a while. I have a chair in the kitchen. I don't give them wine, I'm afraid, but I do say, "You sit there and talk to me so I don't get bored while I tidy the kitchen." Then I end up with pleasant company
and a tidy kitchen
and just the faintest possibility that they may have been fooled into thinking it had only just got that bad and I was just in the process of beginning to sort it out when they arrived.

So did I.
Lydia, good luck at court, and being able to access more appropriate help
Thanks bugslet. The upcoming meeting isn't court - it's a meeting in some rooms at my solicitor's firm's offices to attempt to settle out of court. But I'm assuming your good luck wishes are transferable, so thanks.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Same here. Well, they'd be waiting to be sorted according to whose room they need putting away in. Almost nothing here actually needs ironing if you (a) tumble it briefly, (b) hang it thereafter and (c) apply less than stringent standards of smoothness to the result.

Thanks michaels. She's done quite a bit of growing since you last saw her, and is now definitely too big for a pillow case. To manage the sheet option, I would need further instructions from clever NP as to exactly what to do with the sheet and the safety pins. If it helps NP to advise, perhaps I should mention that she's an early grower, so is quite tall, not particularly thin, and has a noticeably female shape.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? The first image I found is this one, which I imagine is Not Suitable.....
In fact, almost all the images are of her pretty much naked, and the rest she'd still be pretty chilly.
Perhaps a very basic Greek-style tunic, and focus on her symbols?
According to http://www.greek-gods.info/greek-gods/aphrodite/
Aphrodite's symbols were the girdle (which she was using to compel love), the seashell and the mirror. Her sacred animal was the dove.
So it would be really easy to run up a basic Greek-style tunic, stencil a dove on it, and add a girdle and seashell. Does your DD have long hair? If so, the images show her generally as having long, loose hair.
You know someone lazying around on maternity leave who could knock up a white cotton Greek-style tunic very quickly, if that would help? Email me (or PM, or whatever). I have some suitable white cotton that I've used as curtain linings, but which is comfortable enough for a tunic and thick enough not to be see-through.
Sheets and safety pins sounds a bit vulnerable to me - might DD be a bit anxious it could all fall off?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I searched 'Theatre' in the search bar and this was the top answer, so i'll ask a question in here to test your kindness :rotfl:
I've never been to the theatre and i'm thinking of taking someone as a surprise.
I can book the tickets online (now) and the performance is tomorrow night.
With such a small gap between now and the performance, how do I go about getting the tickets physcially? Do I just turn up on the night? And what with? an email receipt?
Thanks
So, what else goes on in here then?

You can usually pick tickets up at the Box Office - email receipt and card you used to pay and you should be fine.

White T-shirt underneath, won't detract from the outfit and will stop her worrying that bits of skin are on show.

You probably receive a printable ticket via email or a code number to hand in at the box office either before or at the performance. It'll be worth it. I've been to a few plays and never regretted it.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I'll book it now and see what happens, thanks.
I've never been before and we've been discussing expanding our interests.
I can take all three of us, one of which needs cheering up and loves Joe McElderry.0
