Sorry to hear that your birthday outing ended with you feeling so zonked, Sue.CKhalvashi wrote: »
Trying to get to Calais in just less 1/4 tank of fuel, as by rough calculation I'll save about £20 filling it up.
I don't need to tell you how low we run the trucks 2 x 1500 litre tanks, and they wonder why the foreign trucks never use UK diesel.
Unbeknownst to me, Mrs Generali set aside some of the school holiday budget so I could have some fun without the kids today as they have gone back to school. I'm going to use it to take Team Generali to the pub for dinner tonight.
Ah, that's sweet.0 -
The only marginal seat I've ever lived in is my current one and I don't get the vote!
I have lived in one. It was a bit exciting, knowing that my vote was counting. It must have made the difference as she lost her seat after we moved

It's so sterile there.
Working in the West End/Mayfair was great.
You never met anyone else who worked in Banking, they were all in advertising or fashion or just rich.
Then on the way back from lunch you could offer assistance to all the tourists who were lost, by sending them in totally the wrong direction.

Feeding the dogs is like feeding the three bears.
Big dog will eat anything, so she's not hard, but if she has water added to her meat slop it slows her down.
Dog dog LOVES hers to be soupy and not just soupy! but the right temperature soup for the day, Today its cool, so she wants her soup warm. On a hot day she likes it cool. This is good, because its an easy way to increase her fluid intake.
Kiwi likes NO water, and looks profoundly upset when he gets a splash of water by mistake in his but he does like to lick the others' bowls when they have finished, just to check there isn't a crumb left.
They ate late today because they didn't want to eat in the heavy rain this morning. They are dozing now, but still smacking lips and sighing with contentment0 -
I don't vote. No idea who was "in" where I've lived, or where I'm living. Not even sure I could be sure of getting it right if I googled it. Are these local parties, or the national ones?
It's all too confusing - and I've no desire to know because whoever gets voted in will spend fortunes and waste fortunes on stuff that doesn't matter, but panders to their middle class aspirations of how they'd like to be seen.....
Voting to me is like choosing between somebody who will rob me to spend it on champagne, or rob me to refurbish their palace-quality offices or home. So I don't buy into it.0 -

Agreed.Retail is the worst. Some English people seem to think that they can say anything they want to someone that works in a shop because 'The Customer is Always Right'. At least in catering there's that nagging doubt that someone will spit in the soup if you're rude. There are some English people that are quit happy to use shop workers as a verbal punch bag. If you say a word in reply you may well be sacked. I have a policy of calling out people that are rude to shop workers. Once again, when the shop shuts pay stops but work doesn't.
I worked in a bar once, & the regional manager came round to do a pep talk on how the customer is always right. Over an hour he banged on about the customer is always right. He must have said the phrase 40+ times.
He was very full of himself & after his speil, challenged staff to aa Q&A where he would "prove" the customer is always right. So after a few examples of "they asked for X & changed their mind to Y, even with witnesses" (with the standard customer is right response) I asked what happens if, whilst serving a regular customer, my new colleague called "winston" appears to restock shelves/fridges. The customer says to me - I ain't coming here where the likes of them are working. Tell the manager to get rid. My question - is the customer always right, & if so, what does that state about our equal opps policies?
He didn't answer. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Go for it!Doozergirl wrote: »I want to be a councillor. I'm not very good at belonging to one political party as I just want things to be right and everyone to be nice to each other. I think there is an independent allliance but they are a bunch of Tory defectors who were already Councillors.
Everyone on the committee was well into Saga territory. Lots of tweed. I think I'd have to sign some kind of oath to Cameron to stand a chance. There was one woman on te committee of 12 there, I think.
This made me laugh elsewhere:There was a UKIP (that should be 'an UKIP' shouldn't it? doesn't sound right though) leaflet waiting for me when I got home tonight. That should make 'interesting' reading...
