Dh has had to go to the docklands tonight, A strange and foreign territory to us.
Anyway. He has no phone reception. The lines ( both, on different networks ) keep cutting out. Its worse than here in sticks. Its very much our hope DH will not end up out there longer term.0 -

I get disappointed when they're those disposable cloths too.
Yes, massive disappointment if it's the disposable wipes and not the flannels
Same if it's not an After Eight mint on the plate with the bill .... I hate those little bits/pieces of "bombay mix", or other mints.... it HAS to be an After Eight!!0 -

Edit: Did you read it first?
Edit Edit: I wonder if it will be delivered by a dodo.
I skimmed it (there weren't too many words).
There was a nice token picture of a pretty Asian lady towards the end (next to some statement about EU immigration and how business would be fine if we left the EU). It didn't really float my boat tbh.
In the interests of policital impartiality, I did return a 'survey' from the local Conservatives in a vaguely similar manner (there were some questions about favourite local shops/ cafes then some political ones snuck in at the end and the chance to win a shopping voucher - I told them that I didn't think any of the party leaders were people I'd like to see running the country).0 -

I'm forever getting those. I live in a LibDem/Tory marginal constituency. I answer all the questions about what I think are the most important issues facing the country, etc - they're only tickboxes so it's quite quick. If there's stuff about house prices I sometimes even add a comment about how HTB etc won't make any difference to the housing shortage unless more houses are built.
Then when the get to the stuff about what I think of the party leaders, or how I voted last time, or how I might vote next time, I write:
"It's a secret ballot. I don't answer questions like these on a questionnaire that has my name and address on it."
The exact wording varies from time to time, but that's the gist of it.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

We were invited to meet friends at a pub tomorrow evening where there is live music. I was looking forward to it.
We agreed we would have supper there and I am now dreading it. The reason..Tuesday night is two meals for £12. I know this sounds bad but it makes me wonder for the quality of the food, and the welfare of animals in the food chain. I will choose the veggie option (my usual choice in places I'm not sure about) . I know the food chain ethics would be the same on other nights there, it is just the whole food business model...it is like Jamie Oliver's view of Turkey twizzlers.
Please let me be wrong and there be 'free range' or outdoor reared whatevers on the menu.
I know this sounds snobby, and cheap nutrition is vital for some, I have no criticism of that, I just do not like to spend leisure £ supporting this. Probably massively hypocritcal with other things I do.0 -

We are also Lib Dem/Tory fluctuating. When we get doorstep canvassers I enthusiastically confirm to whoever is at the door that I voted for them last time and intend to do so again.
Minimises discussion and upsets no one.
Only wish I could be so polite to the cold callers who ring and blight my days off.0 -

Mobile signal in canary wharf is good unless you are up high. I used to be on the 26th floor and had to get up against the window to get signal. Only on 9th now and it's fine.0 -
I was surprised that the school where the teacher was killed today was reported to have carried on with a normal school day...
"Normal school day" probably doesn't mean "everyone carries on as though nothing is out of the ordinary". It means "order is maintained and everyone still goes to the same rooms at the same times as they usually do, but not much work is done and teachers allow classes time to process the news". It's the only way to prevent total chaos if a serious incident of any kind happens during the school day, and all the more so if the incident is some kind of student disorder. The teachers themselves cannot have time to deal with their own feelings while the young people need either looking after or keeping under control. Tesco, on the other hand, has no such excuse.
