PN, you can issue a posh alert if NP talk about going to the racing as a punter, but not for those who've only been to work behind a bar, or similar.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I've come to watch a planning commitee at the local council. Missed the big debate about a contentious application for 490 homes as Doozer not back from work. They've deferred that decision (good call) to examine differing views on traffic impact. I wonder what else is up for discussion.
I wonder if it will be as exciting as the BBC2 programme.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

You can get a door when you are ready. Seems like you have managed brilliantly.
Laundry.....you've got time for a couple if quick washes.
Meant to respond to this yesterday...
Wasn't so much the getting the washing done, but getting it dried.
It's a bit too much of a routine that I go to work on a Monday morning wearing slightly damp clothes...
At least they smell of washing powder (well, liquid) :rotfl:0 -

I've 'been to the races' once. There is a racecourse in my hometown and there was an advert for someone to help out for a couple of race days. Was something like a tenner an hour, so off I went...
I ended up opening the gate which led the horses from the paddock onto the actual race course. I am not experienced with horses, or horse racing (so I had no idea what was going on really). Terrifying :rotfl:0 -
Not sure what is going no with the planning issue close to our road, currently the school has its entrance on our road, they want to build on their playing field to pay for some new buildings and move the playing fields onto soem real fields and (the good bit) move the entrance to the main road not our road so we would lose the school traffic.
I thought all the plans were passed, now suddenly the site is up for sale and the council has written to us about a new planning application.
Still we do live on a nice road (apart from us), just had the annual street party note dropped through the door. The ones who hate us cos we got their daughter's car ticked when she parked across our drive don't go.I think....0 -

There was 'The Planners' last year which reappeared with a different name over the course of about a week, earlier in the year. I thoroughly enjoyed that.
This, however, was a disappointment. I'm sure the big debate would have been heated, I'll make it next time - having no car means I'm completely dependent upon the boy. We saw one item which was a minor amendment, called in by one angry man ranting about the green belt. They interrupted him and approved it.
One was withdrawn, they appeared to skip the next two then booted us out because the next ones were private.
I want to be a councillor. I'm not very good at belonging to one political party as I just want things to be right and everyone to be nice to each other. I think there is an independent allliance but they are a bunch of Tory defectors who were already Councillors.
Everyone on the committee was well into Saga territory. Lots of tweed. I think I'd have to sign some kind of oath to Cameron to stand a chance. There was one woman on te committee of 12 there, I think.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Depends if they're there because a friend/neighbour/relative owns the whole ground and they wanted a holiday job and their dad had a word around ...

There was a UKIP (that should be 'an UKIP' shouldn't it? doesn't sound right though) leaflet waiting for me when I got home tonight. That should make 'interesting' reading...0 -

It is way too much of a routine for me to put a load of washing in when I go to bed (late) leaving a note for DS listing the things I would like him to set tumble drying when he gets up (v early) so that they are dry by the time DD and I wake (just in time to get to school/work).Doozergirl wrote: »There was 'The Planners' last year which reappeared with a different name over the course of about a week, earlier in the year. Thanks. Will see if it's available on iplayer. If you see any other planning related TV shows, do give me a heads up, please.

It's not a new problem. We had some Flanders and Swann on the NPT recently, so here's a quote from Flanders, in one of their shows:Michael_Flanders wrote:... our council is, of course, strictly non-political.
