My birthday today and the house is in isolation....the two younger ones started throwing up last night and James started throwing up this morning.
Oh joy....
Oh dear! Many happy returns, in spite of the vomit. Hope you manage to have some fun today!I do usually make and ice my own cakes though, just at that time, time was of the essence as they got married on Christmas Eve with the grand total of 3 weeks notice!
Most inconsiderate of them (-: You did a lovely job very quickly, then.Anyway, The Girl and I had a lot of fun even if it did cost rather more than first planned. It's a great place. It has a wave pool with two of those circular things with strong currents to carry you round in circles. And a big slide.
Did you say a while ago that you were intending to teach both baby gens to swim this year?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I am very impressed by industrial quantities of cake mix (how big was the tin?) and Sue's decorating.
Must admit I liked the small boy 'helping' best of all.
My mother reckons there are few activities that can't be made educational - so she says things like, "Isaac, we require 9 ounces of almonds, we have 6 1/2 ounces here, how many more do we need?" and Isaac doesn't think he's being encouraged to practice fractions (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

6.5oz got .... get the almonds out and pour out 2.5oz..... then another 2.5oz to scoff immediately.
The unwritten rule of any baking/cooking is that if you open a packet, you're allowed to scoff up to the same amount as the recipe requires ...... without looking like a piggy.0 -
Apologies to Lydia/PN, but to report that I've just repotted my tomatoes.
Didn't expect them to sprout so quickly. Thought they'd last in the trays til the move, but they're 2+ weeks ahead of where I'd expect.
Debated planting lettuce, & decided to give it until next weekend for that. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Probably not applicable to the " 3lb 12oz of currents" part of that particular recipe - hard to scoff that quantity and not be piggy, really?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Which means you can scoff as many as you want as you're never going to reach 3lb 12oz of them.
It's an "up to" clause.0 -

Oh no! Hope you don't catch it from them
Happy Birthday anyway :bdaycake:Doozergirl wrote: »It's DDs birthday tomorrow. Shopping this week is a little hard with no car, I have still have bits to pick up. She is going to see Nanny and Grandad later so I can either ask them for a lift, walk the three miles into town or risk catching one of the elusive buses and making an idiot of myself when I don't know how much it is and have the wrong money. I can't decide which is worse.
Walking is winning atm.
How frustrating.

Out of nowhere.
My skin had finally and dramatically succumbed to age spots. This was always my genetic inheritance, but it didn't expect it to be quite so...dramatic in onset. I was really pleased that I had no rosacea after a weekend in the garden with no hat, but suddenly this morning a patchy face looks back at me when I went to put mascara and eyebrows on, thinking I'd go light with the old war paint but make a bit of an effort.
I think these things can me hormone linked, so I suppose I better tell someone! I think you can also get them lazered off. I hope so. Very aging.
Its amazing, how they just,..,,came from nowhere. Its like someone else's skin. Weird.
How disconcerting!
Hugs for you as well!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Congratulations on your birthday Sue!! Hope everyone is fit and well by the end of the day.0

Yes you do. I like to read about your friends, your work, your Christmas celebrations, your bowls games, etc, and of course especially your house. (When I say the sport goes over my head I mean pests about following professional sport - I quite like reading about NP playing sport themselves.lemonjelly wrote: »Apologies to Lydia/PN, but to report that I've just repotted my tomatoes.

Don't apologise! Post about tomatoes whenever you like. Just don't expect me to have anything worth saying in reply.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Lydia...don't mind my skin groan...make up, and aesthetic procedures are marvellous things. I'm just a bit shocked!
In other news DH found a checklist of 'questions you might be asked in your assessment 'm about referrals for me. The one he particularly liked is the bit where the doctor might ask if I am male or female. If its that bad I either need to worry less about age spots or more about the quality of medicine in this country.0
