Do any of the NP parents know anything about Windows family safety parental controls? It is only partially working for me and I need some help.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Starting and running your own business is very like that.

I've no desire to run my own business .... I was always working for somebody else.

I misunderstood the start up in your last post, but you are running your own business!

No, I fill out a self employment form ..... what I do is completely dissociated from "people". I don't have clients who have come to me, nor perform tasks of others' choosing, nor bill people as such.

A business, to me, would be creating a web page that says "I do this .... come and use me for this bit of your business" then getting clients.

    I don't do people .....

Although I seem like somebody who hasn't achieved anything ... it's actually the result of a lifetime of serial trying and serial believing what I was told.

The wheels fell off every dream and promise I ever believed.

The last time I "took a punt on a start up" was in 2004. That ended up with me working my nuts off for 3 months before a complete failure to pay a penny ....

My sums promised were never as great as yours, but I certainly put in the hours too.

Not everybody who tries = successful. Wheels fall off too easily.....

Every interview promises greatness..... followed by exceedingly long hours. I've now got to the stage/age where I don't believe any more ....

This was a little bit different. I was working from someone with a proven track record and, whilst I can't name him, the biggest investor was someone who had plenty more to invest of both his own and institutional money. Success was more likely than failure.

I reckon if we'd started in 2000 we'd have made a packet. The wheels still would have come off in 2008 because of what we were investing in: biotechs. Those firms need a regular stream of funds and that's the last place you want to keep your money when the debt market has dried up.

I'm still proud that we were investing money in curing obesity, cancer and Alzheimer's.

Why? You put yourself down in that respect. You work hard to get income which is not reliant upon someone else. You run a business, almost like MSE where you give information and refer on for income. You're outsourcing! I'm sure there are many successful businesses that don't rely on direct trade with customers.

When we developed, we didn't have to do people either if we didn't want to. There was one customer, but there was no obligation to meet them.

James Martin, Saturday Kitchen, just made some fough puff pastry.
Flour/water - nothing else. Make that into a dough and roll to a rectangle.
Then he laid out THICK slices of butter (1/2"?) right across half of that, all sides touching. Folded the other part over.
Then bashed it all flat with a rolling pin, then rolled it to a rectangle.
Then did the folding bit..... said do that minimum of 3x and chuck into the fridge in clingfilm.
    Didn't look hard....

Oh I've got dates for coming to Europe: 18/12/14 - 8/1/15.

If anyone fancies another NP meetup then I'm game.

Mine's a more global market... lots of 3rd worlders competing on price; lots of "farms" for what I do. Harder to justify a "proper price".

I guess part of the problem is that I am "I", if I were a "we" I'd have 10x the confidence. When there's only ever you in everything you do it is a completely different dynamic. My problem isn't ability/lack, it's confidence/lack :)

I'll just "be aware".... it's a long way off.
    18th to 2nd is probably a "no".
3rd to 8th would go onto the "we'll see" pile.
