I managed to semi destroy my knee playing table tennis earlier. I probably should make up a better story about how I did it as that sounds pathetic.

So, I'm currently sat on the sofa in our villa with my feet up reading a book and drinking lemonade. Proper stag do behaviour...

Our survey came back yesterday. OH seems happy with it and it doesn't note any major defects. Hopefully we can exchange by the end of this month.

This is your last weekend of freedom then ... all future weekends will be filled with the thrills of Ikea and pricier places to spend your money .... you'll look back on this weekend and wonder why you weren't drunk and performing naked base jumping acts of heroism.

    .

I'm very disappointed with you chewy. I had you marked as our resident bad boy. I feel a bit like I did when I found out Alice Cooper likes golf.

  • A few years ago my Dad managed to wrench his ankle trying to throw conkers over the railway bridge, run through and catch them.

He muttered at work about playing football with his son or something he thought less silly (-:

    Evening all.....

Been an interesting few months in The World Of McTavish.

Have had two big work projects gong on at opposite ends of the country for the last couple of months. We normally don't do more than one at once as it's usually considered too risky to be spread so thin, but somebody above had faith we could pull it off. Damn near didn't... but we're ready to launch now. Tired of 100 hour weeks though and will enjoy this weekend off.

Met up with a very old and very dear friend for the first time in many years, who is now living in rather challenging circumstances that frankly surprised me. No previous hint of it in phone calls or facebook. Very proud and determined to put a brave face on it all.... All very frustrating.

On a ridiculous stag do in Tenerife. We got here at 3pm yesterday. By midnight one of our number was in hospital with a broken heel. He got to fly home today. I am hoping to break my heel later tonight.

Knee, heel... I think you asked for that.

    Hope you get better quickly.

Good news. Who's going to be the first to complete and move in? I'm sure we've had more than one NP in house buying proceedings before, but I don't think we've had 3 NP as closely neck and neck with it. Hope all continues to go smoothly. :)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Sounds like a tough time for your friend Hamish. I hope that there is some way in which you are able to help him, even if it is purely having someone to talk to. It sounds as though he hasn't shared his problems with many, so it may have been a big step to tell you.

I was thinking of Mrs McT watching the news this morning. Kate Middleton is getting a hard time for walking on the beach wearing 'heels'. I felt that Mrs McT would be my kindred spirit, muttering at the TV 'but they are wedges, the best heels that you could choose to wear on the beach'. They just don't get her Hamish. Your wife I feel would understand.

Just been swimming for 2.5 hours with the Generalissimos. I am whacked.

100 hour weeks are horrible. I used to do very close to that at the hedge fund. They were planning on paying me about US$10-20,000,000 over the course of 10 years so it probably wasn't unreasonable. Unfortunately it all fell apart long before it paid off.

Although I seem like somebody who hasn't achieved anything ... it's actually the result of a lifetime of serial trying and serial believing what I was told.

The wheels fell off every dream and promise I ever believed.

The last time I "took a punt on a start up" was in 2004. That ended up with me working my nuts off for 3 months before a complete failure to pay a penny ....

My sums promised were never as great as yours, but I certainly put in the hours too.

Not everybody who tries = successful. Wheels fall off too easily.....

Every interview promises greatness..... followed by exceedingly long hours. I've now got to the stage/age where I don't believe any more ....

Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.

Starting and running your own business is very like that. We tend to think of things as quite solid, but everything changes constantly, you need to make the tweaks and find the other way, not necessarily dump it all.
