Offend your way around the world:
It turns out that I live in Singapore. I'm not entirely convinced that Las Malvinas are to scale. Ditto Gibraltar.
On the subject of which, Gibraltar used to play in the soccer tournament of unrecognised countries along with Tibet, Isle of Wight etc. Now they've been recognised by FIFA so will be in the next European Championships qualifiers. It could be interesting if they get drawn against Spain some time.
I actually had the spitting image annual that map comes from - that was a long time agoI think....0 -
I was quite surprised, the tabloid press don't normally do the difference between bling and posh let alone the perceptive analysis of the Middleton put down.
I do struggle with what car is 'U', probably used to be a several year old Mercedes or volvo estate (or even Peugeot family estate in some families), what is it now? I remember my mum(my) once remarking to someone in the village that she was surprised her new car was a classic merc sports car rather than a brand new slk....
It would be diesel so you can run it on red diesel. Something that will last for decades so most likely to be German. Has to be able to pull a horse box.
Big Audi I reckon.
Smart Car if you live in the city or perhaps an original Mini.0 -

Why have something to pull a trailer? Your daughter cannot take it out without a trailer test now, so that's not relevant. There are tiny little horse boxes made from transit type vans  or anything under three point five tonnes for normal lnew license holders, because after late nineties??? You had to pass a trailer test and cannot drive seven and a half tonnes. I think that changed the type of car people bought in some families, because having something to tow a trailer didn't always make sense, but having a small box did.
I couldn't care less what car is u I just want one that suits. Apathy and minds being on other things mean we have failed to address the issue and mot is due so we have to pray the horrid car we have gets through and can be patched up another year.. Really don't know what to do. We'd decided on a defender again but the idea of driving up to town in one regularly doesn't appeal and I really AM hoping to get more life back....I know I keep saying it but its because I keep hoping its true!:o
Edit: also, red diesel less economical that veg oil.....just not sure I have the guts to risk running a car on veg oil.0 -
This is fluffpot. I'm trying to make sure its not a pet, so it doesn't have a nice name, and its spending time outside everyday.0 -

I was specifically replying to michaels's post, asking for a car that is U.
The best small car in Aus is a Yaris so we bought one.
The best large car that depreciates quickly in Aus is an Aurion, basically a Camry with a bigger V6 engine. Got one of those too for when we need to move family and luggage a large distance.
I really like the fact that we drive something that needs filling once a month as a commuter car and something that's huge and comfy like a double bed as an intercity car.
Kia make very good value cars. They're like Toyota 30 years ago.0 -

By 'your daughter' I meant 'one's daughter'0 -

That's what I thought to start with. And then I realised, the brainwork has been done by the author of the book. All the Daily Wail journo has to do is quote it, or possibly precis it. They don't have to come up with any original ideas for the article.
ETA If not bothering to sew in name tapes is U then I must be somewhere in the uppermost echelons of the nobility.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I'd go for a Range Rover Sport if the offroad ability is not needed, or an A8/Q7 Quattro if it is.
I believe the engine in the RRS is a Ford engine, that Citroen used in the C6, and the Audi is obviously VW.
Never owned an RRS (but our cars both have Ford engines from the same lineup), and my sister had a Q7, and from quick research, they're usable, reliable cars.

I had to take my car into town again. Oops.0
