Got the hiccups sniggering with fir at the idea of Lydia as 'heartless'.

Awwww. Made me laugh, but made my day too. :)

You have a knack for saying the nicest things. :T

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    One of them will.

They are lovely people, and I'm desperately sorry for them. I'm sure I'll see the one that's going. But I don't think it would be appropriate to stay with them. I don't want to intrude on their grief. I think it will be a lot more distressing for them than for me. A son is very different from a nearly-ex-partner. And although they have always been very nice to me since he died, I'm sure they must find me a little awkward, considering what happened between him and me.

Today I had a look at my raised bed, seeds sown in tray in the potting shed and others in the propagator.

To my great delight there were signs of life. Lettuce and radish in the bed, despite a pigeon having been in there and rooting around. The sweet peas are coming up in the shed, and there are signs of a few red peppers germinating in the propagator. I must now keep an eye on things and motivate myself to thin things out and grow things on. I start off with good intentions but most years I am so knackered I do not stay on top of things.

This year, with working PT I am growing things as part of my learning to relax. So, I have to do the things that help plants grow.

My thoughts have started turning to what I do with my lovely little seedlings when they leave their propagator. I have a 'seedling' tray of lots of little pots, so the immediate next step is ok. In fact I think I need to transfer some of the seedlings this weekend. But after that (assuming anything is still alive) I'm not so sure.

After that I'm not so sure. Ultimately I think the old garden shed here is going to go, and I can take up the paving slabs it sits on and have some kind of a (perhaps raised) veg bed there (it's the sunniest corner of the garden too). But for this year, I'm not too sure. I guess I might be buying a number of pots/ troughs.

I rescued some wilting aubergine plants from Aldi this evening. I'm hoping that some love and attention (and some water) will revive them.

I am still nowhere near having enough "get up and go" to do any gardening, but am happy to report that one of the calamondins in my conservatory is flowering ATM. The scent is delightful. :D

I've been looking forward to today for months.

Today is a special payday - the first one where I have not just received my normal pay.

I had spent every penny of my extra money before 7:30 am

I know this isn't the place for a MFW diary, but I'm looking forward to my mortgage balance being updated. I'd guess that this should take over a year off (although I think my head is going to win and I'm going to ask for my overpayments to be used to lower the monthly payments so I'll be better prepared for any disasters/ rate rises after the fix ends).

I am reminded how fortunate I am that I'm in a position to choose to do this. Today has lived up to my anticipation :)

I knew there was something bothering me about this post, and my slow brain has finally identified what it was. Overpaying your mortgage does not count as "spending".

When will you get to see your updated mortgage balance?

I am using any 'get up and go' I can scrape together for entirely the wrong purposes. But I'm quite enjoying pottering round in [STRIKE]the[/STRIKE] my garden :) Feels like I'm playing at being a grown up, esp when I mow the grass (I put the power cable over my shoulder like my parents both do, it's a small thing but always makes me think of them).

The crappy weather forecast for Sunday and Monday are a sign for me to sit inside and tend to something else I think...

I should have written 'blown' instead of spent - it's not in my current account anyway!

If it hasn't updated overnight I guess Tues or Weds next week. The payment should be entered as today's date though.

Bothered me too - if you had time to do online banking before 7.30AM you could have had at least 5 more minutes sleeping...
    I think....
