All sounds very sensible. Well done you.
(Oh, and the MFW lot are v friendly if you fancy some more frequent encouragement.)
I do lurk over there, but I'm not sure I need any further encouragement than what I can generate myself
It's more like I need to make sure that I remember to enjoy having my own space to fill with tat, and that I should have enough flexibility in my budget (and safety net) to relax a little.
I think I also stray into TMI enough over here, without divulging an equal amount about my financial affairs over there!0 -
DDs were both offered a 50% scholarship to the drama school - still too expensive
But we have mananged to negotiate a 75% discount which makes it OK
Also thinking of FC, GDB MsK and the other missing 'regulars'.I think....0 -
Not heartless at all - not even a hint as far as I'm concerned (maybe that also makes me heartless though!). Even if he hadn't been a 'N'-ex, I would hate to think of you still being in complete turmoil due to the accident. It is terrible that he is no longer here, but you still are, and so are your children.
Thank you.
I didn't want him to die. I was horrified when I was told that he had died. I still think his death was tragic and preventable, and I wish my kids had not had to go through losing a parent as such young ages. But, well, life goes on, and our lives have been going on without him for quite some time now.
People ask me if I have to go to his inquest. Well, no, nobody says I have to. I could choose not to. But I find that I need to. For my kids. For me. For him. It's the last thing I do as his wife.
It's important to me, but I don't expect to find it deeply distressing. I've had a long time to get used to him being dead, and a long time reading documents to know most of what's going to be talked about.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
... three weeks ...
Of course, it's not near me, but if it should ever be, then it goes without saying that there's a sofa or airbed with your name on it! (Truth be told, I'd probably stretch to buying a bed if I had a "proper visitor" coming for more than one night).0 -

Indeed. I certainly wouldn't want to go posting details of exactly how much I owe etc. Especially since my story is so easily recognisable to anybody who knows me IRL.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Thank you PN. I'm touched that you'd be willing to let me invade your space!
I am just happy that the previous estimate of 6 weeks has now been halved.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I am 10% posh. I can live with that.
A Pashley bicycle is on my list of things I would like though, as they come from somewhere I know and loveand I would like a sit-up bicycle. Which reminds me that I keep meaning to bring back my bike from my parents' house. It is a Raleigh Lizard mountain bike that I got when I was probably about 12. Once my dad has made sure that the tyres are pumped up etc I'm planning to teach myself to ride again in my back garden. Last time I tried to cycle was about 17 years ago and I proved you can forget how to ride a bike.

Thanks, PasturesNew, for your help.
I think that if I were going to post in MFW or a financial part of the site I'd want to use another identity, a scratch one just for that purpose.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

How much space does 50 cartons of ciggies take up - would they fit in a suitcase?
I think it would be one suitcase ... a large one.
If you say stacked two high, a 6x4 grid.
I can't visualise physical things, tried to find a google image of a stack of cartons or cigs in a suitcase, was unsuccessful ... I've also no idea how big suitcases areI only know how big the two suitcases I own are. But I'm sure a "regular large suitcase" would be sufficient.
For somebody puffing 20/day it's 1.5 years' worth.0 -

I did that ages ago when I wanted to ask a question about tax credits that involved revealing rather more of my finances than I was happy to post as Lydia.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
