    Viva, that's a brilliant approach I think.

Gen, re second favourite organ.....disease already damages mine. I used to be some what bright, literate, legible and sharp. What more to lose eh? ;).

Re discussing, I think its a really difficult one. I know a lot of people just think I'm a lazy dropout. My parents/family don't even know the extent of what's wrong. After initial year DH and I took the decision it was not in my nor their best interests but DH said essentially it was a time to do what is right for me. Its right for me not to involve them more deeply than I have to. Obviously they know I'm broken, and that I have eye problems, fatigue problems, some hormone issues and see a neurologist. They don't ask much but have been very generous with use of their house, and recently driving when I am unable to.

I have expressed recently to non res p it have some concerns that I might need ' some in patient treatment' and that I am not sure how res p will cope with house and animals. Non res p has offered to help and would enjoy being with animals, who ADORE non res p, but I am not sure how res p will feel about this. It would mean if I DO go in to hospital I can relax a bit more and also I can opt for a hospital near DH rather than trying for a local hospital and rushing back in to things here before I am ready.

Its all a bit cart before horse, I might not have tipped scales of balance to where they want to operate :)

Gen, I have told only four people in real life so far ( neither of them my parents) that I might be having brain surgery this year.

 We didn't know that! I think you may have hinted, but haven't actually said it before.

I love the way people drop big news into conversations.

    My boys have set phrases,

DS1 always says "basically" waits for a response, I say "yes" then he launches into something.

DS2 says "in other news" again waits until he has my full attention then launches into something.

Ok, sit down silver. In other news, basically, I might be having brain surgery, that's what these new tests for this new guy are for. ;)

I think everyone is worried about who they need to be worried about ATM, I am fine, ( truly) and nothing changes. I did think I had mentioned it, obliquely. I think its better for me to start thinking of it as a possibility for planning.

I would only expect to take two weeks out of my light schedule if that I hope.

It will be an endocrine neurosurgeon, not a stright up neurosurgeon, if that makes you feel less worried. Some how the hormone bit calmed my friend down a bit as I think I convinced her it meant it wasn't my brain 'proper' :) and through my nose, not the back of my head if it goes ahead as being discussed. Its to attack what is believed to be a secondary issue to the primary one, though not definitively confirmed I have passed preliminary tests as showing potentially positive for that may give me some energy back and decrease some pain.

I am NOT in any way, shape or form worried about surgery. I am in a very different situation to the one gen and viva are in/ have been in where an invading cancer needs to be addressed. My situation is chronic and the way I would balance is not unlike viva's but my start place is different, so it gives me a little more confidence to be gung-ho if I am on side with the procedure. I have little fear of surgery and my fear of other procedures was based on facts and situations I didn't feel able to discuss here at the time.

I am confusingly, slightly more worried that I won't be suitable and will bumble on as I am trying different drugs here and there. If that's the case however, its still positive, surgery is an assault my body won't go through and nothing changes. I feel I am very lucky ATM as I am in a win/ win situation at this stage, :) Surgery could bring progress or no surgery , both are good places to be. :)

Ps: still think an no ward would be good. I am far more concerned for spirits surgery and gens recovery than I have any concerns for my own still theoretical one at this point.

I might feel wobbly closer to the time, let's see. ;). I don't want to go through the piddling in a bottle thing on a weak day again. If I have to redo that urgently I think I might ask to go inpatient for 24 hours and have a catheter. On a strong day I'm as fine as anyone else. Nothing has changed.

Passing by briefly again, seem to have caught the important page.

lir, you are very stoic. I'd be scared witless, but I suppose once you are in your position and lived with it for a while, you become more prosaic. You still have my admiration though.

Gen, bu88er, just as we thought it had gone. Hope the radiotherapy works out and the side affects aren't too bad.

I can't think of anything that I've read on the interwebs that I'd agree with more!

I hope things are going well enough for you.

This thread is very helpful to me.

    Really, I am not.

The test results that came back have suggested that I might get some clearer thinking and 'brain power' and energy etc back if this is a goer. Who wouldn't jump at pursuing that option?

These are all things I am told Iam lucky to have as good as I have, now it find its not necessarily so and it might be there is something that can be tweaked to help so that I am less fuzzy in the head, less' unpredictable in ability and have more of the old me back. :). Its like being scared of....( thinks) ...rescuing someone drowning when you are a great swimmer.

    Anyway, we'll see.

I'll moan enough, you all know it, and no one will be saying stoic or anything then :rotfl:

    Good.

I have no library to sneak out to but I did do half the lawn and I am watching the herb gardens be dug up AGAIN.

I swear, we have dug that garden up so many times the digger must be able to do it with out the driver now.

Each time we find something new.

Today its that we have a new plastic water pipe feeding the house, not an old lead one as feared. Mixed news, as that would have been a simple if expensive cure to a problem we have ATM.

    It's good to moan :)
Too many annoyingly chirpy people, with their fabulous lives, sit and tell us we shouldn't moan .... but I find it's a great past-time!!

    :)
