Victor Lewis Smith, TV reviewer in the Standard, used to like that play on words. He also had the great idea for a children's book: "The Magical Faraway Land Inside the Abandoned Fridge".

He is almost dangerously funny. He used to be a regular on Loose Ends back in the 80s along with Steven Fry, one of the finest shows on R4 IMHO. Needs to be diluted though, as he can be a bit offensive, alas!

He doesn't look remotely like he sounds, for some reason.

Anway glad things are getting better Gen, sorry to hear about the black eye, NDG and the foot, bugslet.
Hope the job interview goes well, Masomnia. By jove, lots to catch up on in the newly accelerating thread.;)

I know people have mentioned buying electric toothbrushes before, Amazon has a great deal of the day on the top of the range Braun Oral B one: down from £200 to £59.99.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Sounds bizarre. Fantastic that it appears to be removed. I'd be wanting to know more were I in your position I'm sure. Good luck!

Very odd. More bizarrely, the specialist had only once previously seen a lymphoma disappear in this way. That patient is the hematologist I'm going to see.

How is the pain/op recovery going? Well I hope.

Pretty well. I did my first full day without a painkiller since the op if you don't include at 4am when the pain in my ear woke me up.

I'm going to carry on trying just to take painkillers at night. I think if you try to suppress all the pain then your tolerance to it falls and you need more painkillers. I'm no macho man but I don't want to take painkillers every day like a lot of people I know including some young kids. Not unless there's something that requires it.

The pain now is mostly a background throb with the very occasional yelp. Only one yelp today which was when I tried to use my right ear for the phone!

Can highly recommend. I got an Oral B last time I was in England. I think the discount might have been the same actually. Mr S perhaps???

Gen, I too don't like or rely on pain killers ( though my drugs have an element of pain control in them that's because if they work it hurts less! Rather than them being pain killers. Infact....they actually cause some discomfort)

from BUT its worth understanding how pain feed back can supersede delayed pain control! Particular in understanding how others manage pain. Living in pain is no op more of a life than living on some drugs, and potentially much less of one.

    Agree with all of this.
I don't like taking pills/tablets. I really dislike swallowing them. When I injured my back, I had to take painkillers. I tried putting it off, as was in agony. The pain made me take them, & I expected they'd do a lot less than they did. I miscalculated when to order a repeat prescription, & owing to a weekend ended up with 1 day with no painkillers. I thought it'd be ok. I thought wrong!:o

I only did 2 courses though, for similar reasons to yourself.

His prank call from Marcus Garvey was used at the start of an Ambient House track (by The Orb I think..?).

    Actually I found it:

I don't normally like prank calls but that one tickled me for some reason. A bit like that program Trigger Happy TV. I can't stand that sort of thing as a rule but that was very clever and rarely at anyone's expense.
